There’s a particular kind of meaning in returning to the place where everything began. For model, author, and entrepreneur Danielle Copperman and her husband, Hedi Sersoub, the countryside estate near Lyon where they were married in 2022 holds something deeper than nostalgia — it’s a space where the past lives alongside the present, and where the beginnings of their future quietly take shape.
For their anniversary, the couple chose to mark the occasion here, at Hedi’s family home — a place they return to often and one that holds the memories of their beginnings while quietly anchoring what comes next. With a trusted creative team aligned with Danielle’s refined, understated aesthetic, they spent the day moving through familiar rooms and sunlit corners, wearing looks that reflect her approach to style and capturing it all in a way that felt soft, timeless, and effortlessly considered.
What follows is a closer look at the place that shaped their beginnings, the memories that resurfaced, how their partnership has evolved in the early years of marriage, and the creative spirit that continues to ground their life together.

The Heart of Their Story
The estate, at the center of their anniversary portraits, has long held meaning for the couple, its history woven into both their families and their own beginning. “Hedi’s brother also got married here so it held special memories for the family. For me, aside from it being such a beautiful and special place where we’ve made so many memories, it felt more informal to have our wedding at the family home, too. Having moved to France a couple of years prior for lockdown, I really wanted our wedding to feel like we were hosting our friends and family, and so it was really a no brainer.”

Returning to the family home naturally brought back the atmosphere of their wedding day, especially the moments that unfolded without intention. “We return often to visit family, and it’s always a reminder of our wedding, especially in the summer when I can really picture our loved ones overflowing in the garden. It brings back memories of the day — from our ceremony to dancing as the sun set with everyone gathered around.” Today, the estate holds even more resonance as their life together continues to grow. “It represents family first and foremost and we feel so blessed that the house holds so many memories for us all. It will also be so special to share this place with generations to come.”

An Anniversary Reimagined
Celebrating their anniversary through an editorial felt like a natural extension of Danielle’s creative world — a chance to honor the setting, the season, and the ease of working with people who have become part of her wider creative circle. For this shoot, she worked closely with photographer Benjamin Wheeler and Amare founder Lyndsey Gibbons. “I have worked with both Ben and Lyndsey several times on creative editorials and more than anything, I love to create with like-minded people, with freedom and curiosity. We are all so busy and yet we wanted to find a time to come together and create something really natural and effortless. It felt so nice to welcome them home this time, as we usually work on location, and it felt just as informal as our wedding; the perfect way to curate new looks with brands I know and love which has now become a huge part of my career since the response to my own wedding looks.”

For Danielle and Hedi, shooting together carries a familiar rhythm — one shaped by memory and the ease of their connection. “I also love shooting bridal with my husband as it’s always fun to revisit the idea of marriage as if we’re not already married. It always brings back memories of our own, and we become so close on these kinds of shoots. On these days we barely look at our phones or other work and just focus on the moment. Being together like that is rare for us, so it always feels special. We always feel closer at the end of the day, with a new sense of carefreeness and ease.”

Fashion played a quiet but defining role, shaping the tone without overpowering the place or the moment. “We went with soft tones and fabrics, timeless styles and silhouettes and hair and make up that felt true to me. The feeling of effortless elegance is underpinned in everything I do and I never want the looks to feel too ‘done’, especially when it comes to bridal. I love to make bridal feel both editorial, wearable and realistic at the same time, which I feel is rare in this industry. It can often feel very commercial or over-the-top and so finding more timeless and traditional yet unique looks is what I live for.”

A Life Together
For Danielle and Hedi, marriage has become defined by a growing sense of unity and shared purpose. “Even from the moment we got engaged, there is this unspoken bond that develops and it’s beautiful. Now, as we begin our own journey with our first house — renovating it from the ground up — it is all about being a team and focusing on each other and ourselves as a unit. It feels more than ever that we are really building something together, and that is the best feeling in the world.”

That spirit of teamwork has guided them through a year full of change — balancing a renovation, navigating busy schedules, and learning how to protect the moments that matter. “No day is the same and flexibility and communication are key in any relationship. Buying our first property and the renovation has mostly been about finding balance between the chaos and our busy schedules."

It’s in the everyday recalibrations that their partnership has found its shape. “We are constantly working on carving out quality time, which has felt impossible this year. We are also so aware of setting realistic boundaries with work, too, and this is also something we’re constantly working on. But communication really is all it comes down to — working as a team, having compassion and keeping things in perspective whenever things outside of the relationship might feel a little overwhelming.”

The Next Chapter
As they settle into their new home, the next chapter feels full of possibility. “I am excited to see how our lives unfold in our new home, and am really looking forward to slowly but surely making it a home. Right now with renovations almost done, it feels a long way off from being finished, and we’re barely getting started on the finer details and decor, but I am excited to see how the space evolves and can’t wait for the memories we’ll make together here.”
The estate continues to play a role in their future, too. “I also have visions of us hosting our 5 year wedding anniversary or vow renewal in our garden with friends and family, and can’t wait to celebrate all of our upcoming milestones here together.”
