In her most recent styled shoot, THE WED photographer Angelika Dupuis blends French fashion vibes with the vibrant energy of Brooklyn. Dark tones, lots of texture, fashion-forward designs, and outfits are featured. The creative inspiration centers around reintroducing dark colors — different shades of red and green, while also using white and texturized linen from France to evoke a Marie Antoinette aesthetic. For this shoot, Angelika collaborated with a team of talented creatives who shared the same vision as her. Together, they wanted to speak to fashion-forward, bold, and elegant New Yorkers and give them a French touch.
The shoot unfolded across two beautiful locations. The first was a loft in Brooklyn that perfectly encapsulates the essence of the Big Apple. Later, the scene shifted to Casino, a fancy French restaurant nestled in the heart of the city. The team deliberately went for very contrasting venues, yet with a similar line — red, bold, NYC.
Angelika and the team made floral designs the focal point of the overall aesthetic, paying meticulous attention to every small detail to highlight the colors of the flowers and to bring them alive. They also brought ice cream scoops from France to create the sensation of texture and height. Red cherries, flowers, and black ribbons were also incorporated to further enrich the table design with contrasting elements.
Fashion played a significant part in the shoot. Brody, the groom, personally worked on his outfits, as a brand designer. The bride, Kennedy, who is also part of the fashion scene, opted for two stunning dresses. The Yves Saint Laurent dress, featuring a black flower, seamlessly created a link to the table and the overall design vibe. The second dress, a Jacquemus piece paired with oversized sleeves, was a perfect match for capturing shots in the Casino and on the lively streets of NYC.
“Our favorite moment from the shoot is definitely when we decided Brody would hold the bouquet and pose next to the table, faking to light a cigarette with a candle. This picture summarizes everything — the fashion, the boldness, and the laid-back Brooklyn vibe. We could almost hear Lana Del Rey’s song in our ears — it was perfect”, shared Angelika.
