As we all hit the final month of summer, it means one thing - it's time to make the absolute most of it. And you know what? We'd love to help you fill your summer 2023 memory book with some more incredible experiences. From concerts to exhibitions, we've put together a list of six cool events Los Angeles has to offer this August.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour
Taylor's currently on her second stadium tour, and it's absolutely epic. The singer-songwriter described the tour as a journey through all her musical eras, an homage to her albums. Named the Eras Tour, it's the biggest Taylor's ever done, with 131 shows across five continents. You can see her perform at SOFI Stadium from August 3 to August 9. Yes, that's nearly a week of back-to-back shows! On this leg of the tour, Taylor will be joined by talented guest performers like HAIM, Gracie Abrams, Owenn, and Gayle. For three and a half hours, you'll be jamming to the singer's top tunes. The tour's setlist includes favorites like 22, Blank Space, Shake it Off, Bad Blood, and Anti-Hero.
Head in The Clouds
There's no such thing as too many music festivals, right? Especially when it's summer! Well, get ready to groove to the tunes of awesome acts like Jackson Wang, Rina Sawayama, Yoasobi, Eyedress, Tiger JK, and more. All these talents are set to rock the stage at the annual Head in the Clouds festival, organized by 88rising. This year's gig is scheduled for August 5-6 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl, and promises a weekend full of surprises.
LA Art Book Fair
After a long pause since 2019, the LA Art Book Fair is finally making a grand comeback in person! The unique event will feature the works of more than 300 international exhibitors, spanning artists, collectives, small press, galleries, antiquarian booksellers and more. In addition to that, LAABF 2023 will be packed with numerous book launches, discussions, performances, and special projects. If you enjoy book-related events as much as we do, this one should definitely be on your list. The Book Fair will take place at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA from August 10 to 13.
Mind Flowers
Make sure to check out the Control Gallery's exhibition, Mind Flowers. It's a new show from New York City-based multidisciplinary artist Othelo Gervacio exploring the synergy between flowers and human beings. Infused with a sense of dark romanticism, Mind Flowers takes cues from 17th Century Dutch Master painting and merges it with the aesthetics and ideology of '70s psychedelia. The result is a series of oil paintings and framed collages that evoke intense emotions, leaving you in a state of euphoria. Mind Flowers opens on July 29, with the show running through August 26.
