Inspiration for the "Unified Connection" shoot, held in Albuquerque at The Avery venue, stemmed from White Sands, New Mexico. While many may only associate New Mexico with its desert vistas, its rich history reveals a diverse terrain that was once home to the ancient Permian Sea.
For Drunk on Design, the planner and creative director behind the shoot, this project represented more than just capturing aesthetics; it was about inviting photographers, models, and vendors alike to actively participate in the creative process. Each photographer was empowered to curate unique looks for the models ahead of time, which ensured that no two photographers were left with identical content.
The name, “Unified Connection,” was inspired by Drunk on Design's concept of custom-designed floral conduit welded chains that formed peaks and valleys, an ode to the mountainscapes in New Mexico. This was the focal point on the tablescapes crafted by a local New Mexican artisan welder.
Floor-to-ceiling chains featured in the set design were also used to echo the concept of unity in marriage. They represented both strength and connection, a metaphor that carried itself throughout the entire shoot. To emphasize authenticity, the team utilized materials that felt natural yet refreshingly unconventional.
Another central element was the food, symbolizing the essence of bringing people together. While honoring the timeless appeal of traditional local New Mexican cuisine, the team also aimed to introduce a fresh twist, creating an atmosphere where food truly became the heart of communal bonding.
In essence, the "Unified Connection" shoot was not merely about capturing moments; it was about forging meaningful connections, celebrating diversity, and embracing the boundless possibilities of creative collaboration.
