Metallics, armor, modern boho, and more

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 officially ended yesterday, September 14. And we are finally ready to tell you everything about this season’s shows. The trendsetters of the long-awaited fashion event were Proenza Schouler, LaQuan Smith, and Bevza. Glitter and futurism became the main characters of brands’ collections: total-metallic looks, chainmail dresses, and armor-like tops. With the rise of eco-movement, a lot of runway outfits had ethnic elements: fringe, natural fabrics, and knitted details. However, sheer clothing pieces are still in style — and brands like Peter Do, Torry Burch, and Mirror Palais proved that.

Wedding fashion has always been following prêt-à-porter trends, so you better keep an eye on the latest ones. Find them below.

Metallics

Gold and silver details, total-metallic and chainmail outfits — this trend was an absolute highlight during the Vogue World show. Emily Ratajkowski, Kendall Jenner, and the sisters Hadid walked the streets of the city, rocking trendy metallic attire.

Bubble dresses and skirts

Voluminous, puffy, bubble-like clothing items also stole the show. Such outfits were seen in both Khaite’s collection and designer Ulla Johnson’s. Trendy skirts were mixed with basic tops, and as for the dresses — the special touches were added by accessories and shoes.

Glitter

Sequins and rhinestones have been hitting Fashion Week Shows for quite a while already. The trend kicked off once the pandemic was over and doesn’t seem to fade away any time soon. Sequin-embroidered outfits were seen in collections designed by Eckhaus Latta, Brandon Maxwell, and during Vogue World. What's more, Bella and Gigi Hadid closed the NYFW by wearing Tom Ford metallic sequined gowns.

Modern Boho

Proenza Schouler's and Khaite's collections were full of knitted outfits, crochet pieces, and fringes. Yet other brands are also not far behind by mixing ethnic elements with rhinestones and metallic details.

Armor

Armor-like details and corsets have already been seen at Schiaparelli's 2021 show. And thanks to Zendaya, we now know that they can be worn beyond the runway shows too. This season, the trend escalated and appeared in the collections of Gabriela Hearst, Bevza, and LaQuan Smith.

Sheer Fabrics

Sheer sleeves, skirts, pants and even total-sheer looks were spotted in almost all fashion collections at New York Fashion Week. Designers like Tory Burch and Peter Do took casual looks as a basis, while LaQuan Smith and Mirror Palais preferred more feminine yet catchy silhouettes.

Dressy + Casual

This season, designers decided to experiment. They took wardrobe basics like shirts and t-shirts and turned them into more dressy ones. Designers used expensive fabrics, glitter, and all sorts of unusual combinations. Well, Gabriela Hearst, Peter Do, and Brandon Maxwell nailed the task!
