Pink; conjuring up a youthful freshness, passionate romance, soft femininity, vibrancy and self-confidence. Gracing recent runways and red carpets alike, now an alluring option for any bride-to-be seeking inspiration for on trend makeup this wedding season. Read on for our tips to creating your perfect blushing pink, and don't be afraid to embrace your inner child and experiment!
Balance is Key
Despite the fact that this type of makeup is known for the abundance of pink shades and heavy application of blushes, it's still important to maintain balance, especially for your wedding look. Practice makes perfect - test in different areas first to find the right balance for your features. For instance, if you're highlighting your cheeks, opt to go lighter on your lips to keep the overall look harmonious. The one-accent-at-a-time rule works here: if the focus is on the eyes, the lips can be made more neutral and vice versa!
Control the Cheeks
As well as making your face look fresh and natural, blushing pink makeup can also be used to visually soften and lift facial lines. It will be a great addition to your wedding photos and will set your face beautifully for the video. The rule is simple: do not apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, as you may be used to doing, but just above the cheekbones, going up to the temples. This will visually lengthen the contours of your face and create a lifting effect.
Try Cream Textures
Of course matte makeup is a trend this season, but the combination of pink blush and wet highlighter is an exception to the rule and has become an almost iconic aesthetic. As well as products with a shimmery effect, creamy textures will be used to create a truly radiant, mirror-like effect. Fortunately, there are many wonderful liquid blushes on the market today that can help you achieve this. We recommend using your fingers to apply these textures for the most intense results.
Not all Pinks are Created Equal
Even in the world of pink madness, sometimes you need control and logic. We're not suggesting you wear all the pink you can get your hands on, but it's worth understanding which combination of shades works best for your complexion and the occasion. If you're preparing for a cheeky pre-wedding cocktail party in the hot sun, consider a bright pink cream blush that can be applied to the cheeks and eyelids. If your event is a winter wedding in cooler climates, why not opt for cooler shades of pink and matte textures. Don't be afraid to experiment! Even if you don't think a particular shade of pink will work for you, try it out, take photos and see how you look. You can even combine different shades and types of pink, as long as you find something that's beautiful and comfortable.
