For Chantel and Jeremy, one of the most important things was that their wedding must reflect them as a couple. The atmosphere was totally relaxed, and the event was hosted in an open area, with delicious food and good wine. They chose a charming winery in Australia’s Yarra Valley and set up a ceremony right in the middle of a green landscaped park. How the rest of the wedding unfolded, as well as about the wedding outfits, music for the first dance, floristry and other details, Chantel told us in an interview.
Tell us a little about yourselves.
Jeremy and I met in high school - we have been together for nearly 12 years. I work in Public Health, and Jeremy is an accountant. We enjoy travelling, eating at new restaurants and old favourites, hosting dinner parties and spending time with our friends.
What was the concept behind your wedding and how did you find your inspiration?
Initially, we were torn between a venue that was more inner city and a winery venue. We wanted something simple, elegant and modern - our number one priority was to make sure it was just a big, fun party and for everyone to have a good time! Our inspiration was choosing something that was timeless and beautiful, which also reflected on us as a couple - we are very relaxed, enjoy being outdoors and just love good food and wine. We have been inspired by weddings we have attended in the past where the ceremony reflected so beautifully on the couple, and really wanted to make sure that was a key part of our day.
Where was your wedding? Why did you choose this venue?
Coombe Yarra Valley. We instantly fell in love when we visited the venue, and we knew it was perfect for us. Coombe has multiple beautiful locations for a ceremony (including a gorgeous wet weather option), a perfect area for the cocktail hour, and a well-designed reception area with a big dancefloor. And the whole venue is so stunning you don’t need to do much styling - it ticked all the boxes for a seamless day!
How many guests did you have?
We had 106 guests. We knew we wanted a fairly intimate wedding, where we could enjoy the day and interact with our guests.
Tell us about your outfits.
My dress was Cappellazzo Couture. Jeremy and the groomsmen wore M.J. Bale and the bridesmaids’ dresses were from Misha Collection. I absolutely loved how the whole bridal party looked, particularly the contrast of the black suits and bridesmaids’ dresses, against the gorgeous greenery at Coombe.
What was your first dance song?
We chose How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding. To be honest, we struggled to choose a song! We loved the lyrics to this one, and also that it wasn’t too long, so our guests didn’t have to endure our mediocre dancing for longer than necessary!
What flowers did you choose for the bride’s bouquet and why?
We had beautiful white roses for the bouquet. I sent our florist (Flowers St. Germain) some styling inspiration photos, and she did the rest. Sonia was incredible. She made so many helpful suggestions that really tied the florals to fit with our style and the venue.
What was your wedding cake like?
We had a two tier white cake. It was very simple, and perfect for our overall styling. The cake was from JY Cake Designs and it was absolutely delicious.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us more about?
We loved working with all of our vendors. We were mindful to choose vendors based on their communication style and how well we connected with them in the initial consults. This was so important - especially our photographer, videographer and celebrant, who put us totally at ease and had so much fun with the whole bridal party on the day. I would recommend every single one of our vendors.
