Tell us a little about yourselves. How did you meet? What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies?
We are both from a town; we had seen each other a few times, but we had never spoken until we met at a music festival in Barcelona 10 years ago. We’ve been living together for more than 9 years, and we decided to live together very soon. Jaume works as a consultant for IBM, and I work at "Fundació La Caixa" and study the degree of Early Childhood Education. About our hobbies, Jaume loves sports of all kinds, but now what he enjoys the most is playing golf, and during the week he goes to the gym. I go to the gym as well all week, and on Saturdays I play tennis with a friend.
Where was your wedding? Why did you choose this venue?
Our wedding was in "La Boscana" (Bellvís). It is a restaurant with a Michelin star, and everything they do is fabulous. The first time we were there was six years ago, and we both thought that if the time ever came, that would be our place. Food was an absolute priority for us. With Jaume, we share a special passion in terms of enjoying the gastronomic world, and without a doubt, "La Boscana" was a place that fulfilled everything we sought. All of this, coupled with how magical the place is, was the perfect combination for us.
What was the concept behind your wedding and how did you find your inspiration?
I think we both wanted the wedding to have an elegant concept, neutral colors, warm lights, and be very cozy; we were happy to see that it did. In that sense, we were clear about what we wanted and what we didn't want from the very beginning.
How long did it take to plan your wedding? Did you encounter any challenges during the planning process?
We didn’t have much time, and the truth is that many times it was very stressful. We had only 7 months to prepare everything, and although at first we had the idea of having a wedding planner, we finally realized that we had very clearly defined what we wanted, and maybe it was feasible to do it ourselves. It was a challenge, I will not deny it, but we were very happy to see that we were able to achieve it. But I have to say that without the help of the La Boscana’s team and all the people who participated from beginning to end in our wedding, it was possible that it was everything we wanted.
How many guests did you have? And what was the seating arrangement at the wedding like?
We had about 115 guests, and in terms of seating, the main thing was to keep our families close to us and make all our guests feel comfortable with the people around them. In that sense, Jaume took care that it was so, seeking the maximum possible affinity to create a pleasant atmosphere for all. Seeing the result of our wedding, I dare say that it was.
Tell us about your outfits. How many different styles have you tried?
As for the outfits, Jaume didn’t change his suit, but I did. My dress for the whole day, was from "Pronovias" and for the party, I wore a two-piece suit, pants and vest.
What was your first dance song? Did you choreograph or improvise?
Our song was the version of Lo-Fang, “You’re The One That I Want”. About the dance, we improvised 100%. We practiced for 2 minutes before entering the dining room, while eating snacks with the staff (photographer, videographer, dj, stylist, etc.). It was very funny, because everyone was amazed that we had the moment and the song, but we hadn’t practiced at all. Even if it was improvised, it was special for us.
Did you have any special performances or entertainment?
During the apéritif, we were accompanied by “Swite Duo.” They are two men who played acoustic versions with their violin and guitar, which made the appetizer atmosphere ideal.
What was the most memorable moment from your wedding day?
There were honestly many special moments, but if we have to choose some, maybe one was the ceremony in the church and the other one was the entrance to the dining room with our guests; those two moments were absolutely memorable.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
All the vendors who participated in our wedding created around us a huge feeling of gratitude and lucky... La Boscana’s team looked after us from the beginning so that we had everything we needed; without all of them, it would have been impossible for our day to be so special. Can Gessé by Raquel Zazurca, decorated everything with the charm we sought through flowers; Robert Marcillas, our photographer and Alexis Alcázar, our videographer, did magic. About the makeup artist, Carlos Mora, he is just light and kindness and a fantastic professional; my day wouldn’t have been the same without him. And finally, the DJ from Show Events, Jordi, does know how to throw a legendary party.
What advice would you give to couples who are currently planning their wedding?
Probably the biggest advice would be to enjoy every second of that day, because it happens so fast that you don’t realize it. For us, the time really went faster that day. There are so many emotions, and when you put together all the people you love, that creates such a special atmosphere, which makes a unique memory.
Can you share your engagement story?
The truth is that it was quite a surprise... After more than 9 years together, I did not see it coming, at least not at the time it happened. We used to go to restaurants with our family very often, and that weekend in particular, we went with our mothers. The lunch was as normal as ever, until the desserts arrived. I usually ask for dessert, but that day I just didn’t want anything... Jaume insisted that they bring me some chocolate (which is what a normal day would have asked for). When they put me in front of a glass bowl with a lid, it's a kind of bowl you can’t see, but on the inside, what’s inside? When I opened the lid, I saw that it was the ring. It was a surprise for all three of us, for our mothers and for me, and then, of course, we all cried; obviously, it was tears of happiness.
Were there national/religious traditions at your wedding and how did you implement them?
We are Catholics; it was paramount for us to celebrate our wedding in the church, and so we did. We both share that bond, and that belief in God makes us feel and see our relationship from pillars and values with which we feel very connected.
What helped you cope with the anxiety before the wedding?
Our friends and family. But I think the kind of nervousness that you have that day is entirely different from what you usually understand as anxiety. It was kind of excitement, happiness, and nervousness, but in the good way and like, you feel excited for being living something as special as this... It’s like if you need more time to process what you're doing, it's funny because, at some points, you feel like you're processing everything later, like your mind is receiving all the inputs later than the present time... That can sound really weird, but that was kind of it.
