Cristina and Davide's wedding took place in June of 2022 in a special place for the couple - Provence, where they spent their first vacation together. The bride and groom were inspired by the images of the weddings of the most famous first ladies throughout history. Their celebration was designed in the retro style, with elegance, grace and beautiful touches. We turned to Cristina to find out the details of the organization of the wedding, her dress and how the day developed, as well as the story of meeting her now husband Davide.
Tell us a little about yourselves.
I grew up in Barcelona, Spain, and Davide was born in Liguria, Italy, but he moved to Milano at an early age. We met in Milano eight years ago, while I was on a weekend trip with my girlfriends, and a friend of mine asked me if she could introduce me to Davide. We saw each other for barely two minutes, but his almond eyes and big smile lingered in my mind. From that moment, we never left each others side, and he proposed where we had the most marvelous weekend ever, at a secret and remote place, called Eco del Mare.
What was the concept behind your wedding and how did you find your inspiration?
Davide and I have a very timeless, classic, and elegant style, so we wanted our wedding to be the purest reflection of our personalities. We found inspiration from Onassis and Jackie Kennedy’s wedding, as well as the Grace Kelly's wedding when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco. With regards to the style and decoration, we were primarily inspired by Marie Antoinette, but a refined, modernized version.
Where was your wedding? Why did you choose this venue?
We got married in Provence, a special place for us, since we spent our first summer together between Côte d'Azur and the South of France, so it reminds us to the place where our love was born. We chose a listed historic Château from the 18th century, with a winery and hectares of vineyards, surrounded by lavender fields. The location effortlessly reflected the mood of our wedding, and the color and design of the house fitted perfectly with our romantic theme and garden of wildflowers.
How many guests did you have?
We had 87 guests. Davide and I wanted an intimate wedding, since we wanted to spend a whole weekend with our closest friends and family. It was important for us to have real and deep conservations with our guests, and to dedicate to them the quality time they deserved. Everything was designed to create beautiful memories that we would cherish forever.
Tell us about your outfits.
Davide wore a navy blue and grey English classic suit from Eral55, with a light cream double breasted gilet and a same color tie. He also wore a vintage 5140J Patek Philippe, combined with a pair of gold shirt cufflinks from the same brand. I wore a white pearl taffeta wedding dress, combined with a pair of white silk gloves, matching with “Bellis L'Eau” freshwater pearl earrings, from Sophie Bille Brahe. As for the shoes, I chose a pair of white slingbacks from René Caovilla Maison, embroidered by hand on tulle with thousands of gems, inspired by the iconic Cinderella crystal shoe.
What was your first dance song?
The music of our wedding was inspired in the Jazz from the 50’s and 60’s: Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Barry White. There were three especially important songs at our wedding: “Can't Get Enough of Your Love Baby”, from Barry White, which was our recessional piece of music; “You Are the First, the Last, My Everything”, from Barry White, that was played at our wedding reception entrance; and “Sugar, sugar”, from the Archies, which was our wedding cake cutting song.
What flowers did you choose for the bride's bouquet and why?
I chose a bouquet of large, glossy, and open leaf white peonies, tied up with a white pearl silk ribbon, with a scent of roses, water lily and citrus. I wanted peonies because they represent wealth and honor, embody romance and love, and are regarded as the omen of good fortune and a happy marriage.
What was your wedding cake like? And where did you order it?
We were deeply inspired by Onassis and Jackie Kennedy’s wedding cake. We wanted to cut the cake on the wedding table in front of all our guests. The Maître Pâtissier of the Château created a creamy, fluffy white cloud cake, embellished with the same blossoms of the wedding table: salmon, light yellow, blush pink, nude, and beige with wild garden flowers.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We had the honor to have as our photographers Majo and Xavi (@ladichosa), and as our videographer Marina (@amsloveinvideo). It was a dream come true to have them involved in our special day, since we deeply admire their work, and we were blessed that our wedding was seen through their camera lenses.
