This majestic villa in Sorrento was bought in 1905 by one of the richest men of the time, Lord William Astor, and became his passionate project. Lord Astor expanded the area and designed a beautiful garden where a Dominican medieval monastery had previously stood. His most recent addition to the property was the Villa Pompeii, which he decorated with Ionic columns and neoclassical frescoes by the Roman painter Mario Spinetti.
Villa Astor has 6 luxury suites in the main building, each individually designed by renowned French interior designer Jacques Garcia and furnished with antique furniture and art from the famous auction houses of Sotheby's and Christie's. Another highlight is the luxurious marble bathrooms. Exquisite interiors are made of Greek and Roman marble. In the lush gardens, you will find ancient artifacts — columns, statues, fountains, urns, ceramic shards, fragments of sarcophagi.
Here you can enjoy the legendary views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius through the bedroom windows or from the spacious terrace. Take a walk in a huge botanical garden with a collection of over 1000 plant species. Take a bath in a natural grotto, swim in the sea or a marble pool. The surroundings of Villa Astor offer many options for travel: you can take a boat trip to the islands of Capri or Ischia, visit Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Villa Astor is one of the most fashionable Italian wedding venues according to Brides magazine, ideal for exclusive holidays, weddings and receptions. The magnificent garden with panoramic views of the sea and Mount Vesuvius is a paradise for romance and holidays.
