Brilliantly captured by THE WED member Anna Sauza, this ultra-stylish editorial is meant to inspire alternative brides who have a taste for rock music and art, aiming for a unique, romantic look on their elopement or wedding day. The idea came from the photographer’s personal desire to create something different from what brides are used to seeing. Through this editorial, Anna encourages brides not to be afraid of not wearing a traditional white dress or classic makeup on their big day. Instead, she invites them to fearlessly embrace the unique styles they truly resonate with.
“I've always loved the girl in red from The Smashing Pumpkins' 'Adore' album cover, as well as the wedding dress of Lydia Deetz from the 'Beetlejuice' movie, and I wanted to do a shoot inspired by that. I wanted the look to have a vintage vibe: a short red mini dress, platform boots, long gloves, and a veil. The hair and makeup are inspired by 60's fashion, and bright purple tones on the eyes are used to contrast the monochromatic red look of the model, as well as the clear purple heart-shaped sunglasses. My very dear friend Eloisa Lazcano, who is also a floral designer, helped me plan the shoot and reached out to the people from the venue which is a beautiful hotel downtown San Miguel de Allende. For the flowers, she created a bold bouquet of contrasting colors and textures, which I really loved and it was such an important part of the inspiration for the shoot,” shared Anna.
