Tell us about the spark for Bash Please, where did it all begin?
After a decade each of event experience, we wanted to fill the void for approachable yet exceptional events within the wedding industry. There was a clear need for quiet luxury events and that is what Bash Please is known for today. Pulling together a team of like minded planners, designers and overall creative women, our spark comes from the relationships being built with our clients and partners in the industry.
How do you work with your clients? Walk us through the journey of a couple working with Bash Please…
Our couples come to us looking for something unique, whether that is through a location, a twist on the traditional or a desire for the unexpected. They know that they have brought us onboard with a very transparent vision which is to take what is important to them and bring it to the forefront of hosting their guests. The journey starts with a lot of first dates - getting to know our clients outside of the wedding world is key. Things that matter - how they host guests in their home, what does a typical Friday night look to you? Where do you travel, when you travel do you stay in a luxury hotel or a charming Airbnb. Things like this help to create a story that is personalized and where we spend time focusing our energy. From here our team hits the ground running to bring on all of our collaborative vendors. Through many visual design presentations and meetings we are able to bring their vision to life. The rest is not so glamorous, and includes thousands of emails, budget revisions, address proofing, guest list management with a little sprinkle of tasting favorite cocktails and delicious hand selected foods.
Your team is uniquely made up of event planners and designers all with rich backgrounds in various fields. How do they work together to create a holistically cohesive and smooth-running event?
Have you heard in a relationship communication is key? We spend countless hours on video meetings, planes, long road trips and a very active group text! Constantly sharing inspiration while in our day to day lives as well. While like minded in many ways, one great aspect of our team is we all have a very unique, individual style and point of view. This is so helpful because it allows us to work with so many clients in different ways.
Every event stylist has their own signature style. How would you describe the Bash Please style?
A new spin on traditions and refined.
Each client would have their own unique idea of what they envision for their special day. How do you translate that and fuse it with your own style?
It’s not about infusing a client's vision with our style but more so bringing their style to the forefront of something relevant to the location, season, while staying timeless and current.
Where do you seek out and find your inspiration? What are some of your favorite sources?
Travel, reading, concerts and shows, music, fashion, treating ourselves to a great dinner or spa and interior design. Inspiration is truly everywhere if you are paying attention.
Today, a wedding is so much more than simply a ceremony and reception and often now, a multi-day immersive event. Tell us about how you curate an experience for both the couple and their guests that go beyond a traditional wedding day?
Personalization. Tailoring the event to reflect the personalities, interests, and cultural backgrounds of the couple. This can be done in many ways such as food, music and hobbies. It is always a goal to provide down time through the festivities so people can relax and enjoy themselves while also organizing things to do outside of typical events. A morning yoga class or hike, a pickleball game, memorable things and things that get people interacting. Interactive experiences are always a hit - we once had a wedding in Montana where guests were able to get tattoos over the course of the weekend. And cultural immersion; embrace cultural traditions and customs that are meaningful to the couple or their families. This could include rituals, dances, music, or ceremonies that reflect their heritage and background. Surprising guests with a performance or sprinkling meaning or local gifts throughout the weekend is always a nice touch and leaves a lasting impression.
You also specialize in the production and planning of destination weddings. Describe how the approach to planning and styling a destination wedding might differ from that of a local wedding?
Destination weddings are always viewed from the guest travel perceptive. We want to look at flights, hotels, getting around the location first and then build the itinerary for the weekend around this. For example in Paris it is really easy for guests to travel whereas on a remote island, it can be a little more complicated. We always provide a travel concierge to assist with rooms, flights, and transportation. From here, hospitality takes over as a priority since guests have traveled in to celebrate. Preparing things like massages, yoga and wellness, as well as beautifully curated arrival gifts. Small hospitable details can transform your guests' experience and they will feel well taken care of.
As for the creative and design - it's easy… keep things local and beautiful. Planning and styling a destination wedding often requires a different approach compared to organizing a local wedding due to factors such as logistics, cultural considerations, and guest travel. Selecting the right location is very important. You want to make sure that you are comfortable with the climate, the culture, the food, the attractions, etc.
Logistics can be a little tricky as far as timing and having everything available or being able to get things in and out of customs. Overall, planning and designing a destination wedding requires careful planning, transparency and patience.
What are your thoughts on incorporating trends into weddings? How do you navigate which trends to tap into and which to forgo?
We set the trends - no more bows, and no more espresso martinis. Our goal is to simply evaluate timeless verses fads - does the trend they want to incorporate have lasting appeal or is it going to be outdated quickly even possibly before the wedding event takes place?
What are some of the key trends that you predict for 2024 and 2025 weddings?
Bye-bye bridal party! Hello branded athleisure wear and weekday weddings with a recovery party element.
What is one thing you would recommend to your clients to incorporate as a special, unexpected touch for guests on their wedding day?
It's nice when couples plan something that allows guests to enjoy the wedding location, like a historical tour or spa treatment. Many people treat destination weddings as one of their vacations for the year and it’s nice to help them enjoy their trip outside of the official wedding events or carve out designated relaxation time. Any type of personalized gift goes such a long way. If you know one of your guests loves a certain pillow spray or chocolate, having that waiting in their room with a hand written note can really go a long way. Regardless of which special touch you choose to incorporate, the key is to infuse it with meaning and thoughtfulness, reflecting the love and appreciation you have for your guests sharing in your special day.
