Hotel Il Pellicano
If ever a hotel captured the spirit of la dolce vita, Hotel Il Pellicano in Porto Ercole would be it. Set within a secluded cove on Monte Argentario and kissed by the Tuscan sun, the hideaway began as the romantic retreat of two lovers who dreamed of creating a private sanctuary by the sea. Before long, their glamorous circle followed, with Hollywood names and European high society arriving to swim in the clear blue water and party under the moonlight. Legendary photographer Slim Aarons was among them, capturing the sun-soaked scenes that would become some of his most recognizable images. In 1965, the private villa was transformed into Hotel Il Pellicano as we know it today. Its glamorous story has continued ever since, and now Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have added their own chapter.
Hotel Locarno
In Rome, the newlyweds stayed at Hotel Locarno, one of the city’s most storied addresses, which first opened its doors in 1925. Its Art Nouveau interiors have welcomed generations of artists, writers, and filmmakers, including Federico Fellini, Elsa Morante, and Jack Kerouac, all drawn to its distinctly bohemian atmosphere. Just steps from Piazza del Popolo and within easy reach of the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain, the hotel places much of Rome at your feet. Yet between its leafy secret garden, rooftop terrace, and rooms steeped in old-world character, it still feels like a private escape from the city outside.
La Posta Vecchia
Another spectacular stop on Dua and Callum’s honeymoon map was La Posta Vecchia, a grand seaside retreat just outside Rome. Once favored by Roman emperors and later transformed into a 17th-century Renaissance villa, it now forms part of the same hotel family as Il Pellicano. The property was also a private hideaway of oil magnate Jean Paul Getty, whose eye for art and antiquities still shapes its interiors. Today, guests can enjoy rooms filled with rare tapestries, marble busts, and carefully collected antiques, all framed by uninterrupted views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa
Ischia’s lush landscapes and shifting shades of Mediterranean blue are difficult to resist, and Dua and Callum were no exception. The couple stayed at Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa, long loved by artists and creatives in search of a slower kind of escape. Perched above its own private bay, the hotel sits just minutes from the charming seaside towns of Lacco Ameno and Forio. Its terracotta tower rises above pine-covered slopes and open water, giving the entire setting an almost cinematic sense of romance. For a honeymoon spent celebrating forever, it's hard to imagine a more picturesque backdrop.
Villa Treville
The Amalfi Coast has no shortage of postcard-perfect retreats, but Villa Treville in Positano still manages to stand apart. Wrapped in verdant gardens, secluded terraces, and tropical plants, the property retains the intimacy of a private summer residence while delivering luxury from the moment guests arrive. Over the years, its rooms have welcomed an extraordinary creative crowd, including Maria Callas, Leonard Bernstein, Rudolf Nureyev, Coco Chanel, Liza Minnelli, Elizabeth Taylor, and Richard Burton. Palazzo Margherita
Dua and Callum clearly made the most of their stay at Palazzo Margherita in the hilltop town of Bernalda, sharing quite a few photographs from the property. The intimate nine-suite hideaway is owned by filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, who spent more than six years restoring it with a careful eye for its original character. Hand-painted frescoes sweep across the vaulted ceilings, original marble floors have been painstakingly lifted and relaid, and richly patterned tiles run beneath each room. Beyond the interiors, the hotel opens a more intimate door into Basilicata, arranging cooking lessons, tastings of the region’s Aglianico wine, and private visits to homes, gardens, and quiet corners rarely seen by visitors.
Villa Paola
The couple's Italian escape led them south to Calabria, where they checked into Villa Paola. Suspended between bright blue skies and the Calabrian Sea, and just minutes from the centre of Tropea, the hotel occupies a beautifully restored 16th-century convent. With only 14 rooms, it feels intimate and quietly removed from the bustle below. Arched walkways, shaded courtyards, citrus trees, and sea-facing terraces preserve the contemplative mood of the original building, while the views lend the setting an unmistakable Mediterranean glow. It is the sort of place that invites long breakfasts, slow afternoons, and very little reason to leave.
San Domenico Palace, A Four Seasons Hotel
Set high above the Ionian Sea, San Domenico Palace has long been one of Taormina’s standout stays, and it was an effortlessly glamorous choice for Dua and Callum’s honeymoon. The hotel reached an even wider audience after appearing in the second season of The White Lotus, placing its cloistered courtyards, sea-facing terraces, and cinematic setting firmly in the spotlight.
