With a plethora of delicious dishes, drinks and endless kisses on your wedding day (it's a celebration of love, after all!), your lipstick can struggle to see out the night at the best of times. Often bleeding or smudging, or even fading away completely, making your once luscious lips looking a little worse for wear. With these simple tips, your lipstick will take you from day to night so you can enjoy every moment of your wedding day.

Prep Your Lips
First things first, get your lips smooth and hydrated. To remove flaky dead skin cells, use a special lip scrub which you can find in any beauty store or make a quick and easy homemade mixture of sugar and honey. Be gentle rubbing the product on your lips to avoid any discomfort, then rinse the mixture off. After exfoliation, apply the right amount of hydrating lip balm and give it a few minutes to settle. If you feel that your lips are still a bit greasy, blot off excess with a tissue paper.
Apply a Quality Lip Primer
Yes, lip primers exist too! They are perfect for prepping your lips and can really help your lipstick stick for way longer. Lip primers work just like face primers (or any primers you might’ve used before), creating an even, silky base for smoother product application. Some also come with a hydrating effect, which is also a big plus for keeping your lips happy and moisturized.

Use a Lip Liner
No beauty kit is complete without a lip liner. It's a super versatile product that can be used in so many different ways, from giving your lips volume to making your lipstick last considerably longer. Use a liner that matches the shade of your lipstick or stick to a nude one, which works perfectly with any shade. With your liner, outline your lips and then fill them with color. Once you are done, move to applying your lipstick.
Stick to Multiple Thin Layers
Instead of applying a thick coat of lipstick, which can take forever to dry, try a more delicate approach with multiple thin layers. The first layer would serve as a base and then follow with more light coats to intensify the color and ensure durability. After each layer, gently blot your lips with a tissue to remove excess. The number of layers depends on how intense you want the color to be.

Choose Long-Lasting Formulas
Look for lipsticks with longer-wear formulas, such as matts. Matte lipsticks are widely known for its better staying power, making them perfect for lasting through the big day. So, chances are your matte lipstick will survive your courses, cocktails, and of course the wedding cake! Creamy and glossy formulas, while beautiful, tend to need more touch-ups and extra attention.
Try a Powder Trick
If you want your lipstick to last for hours without worrying about any touch-ups, try a translucent powder method. Place a tissue over your painted lips so that they are completely covered, then using a fluffy makeup brush lightly dust your powder over. It will transfer through the tissue onto your lips, setting the lipstick without altering its color or finish.
