In a world where fine jewelry often carries the weight of tradition, Sophie Bille Brahe brings a refreshing and deeply personal interpretation to the bridal landscape. The Amoureux Madison engagement ring collection—exclusively launching in their New York and online boutiques—marks a milestone in the designer’s journey, blending her unique sensibility with exquisite craftsmanship. Designed for those seeking something more than just a symbol, this collection is an embodiment of love itself, with every piece crafted to reflect the raw, enduring emotion that underpins the vows of marriage.
Drawing inspiration from the ocean's vast horizon and the power of subtle elegance, the Amoureux Madison rings are defined by their signature wave-shaped bands and stunning fancy-cut diamonds. With heart, round, and oval diamonds at their center, these rings are not just engagement rings, but intimate love stories—crafted to last forever. Sophie's approach, refined yet grounded in sentiment, reimagines the engagement ring as a true expression of the wearer’s essence, elevated by the most delicate details.

What was the initial spark or story behind the Amoureux Madison collection?
I wanted to design an exclusive bridal collection for the New York boutique, something with a bit more grandeur. It had to be sophisticated but also very much me. For some time, I have been eager to work with exquisite diamonds and fancy cuts, and the opening of the boutique on Madison Avenue seemed to be the perfect occasion. Amoureux Madison is a very personal collection to me. I tried to translate my love language and how I felt at this very moment into three ultimate love rings.
Can you walk us through your creative process when designing a new collection? How does your approach differ for a bridal collection?
My collections tell the story of my life, all the important moments. My creative process always starts with a feeling, an emotion I have at a certain time, and I try to work around that feeling. I try to catch it, like something that I can see but can’t quite describe. I need to make space in my mind for the feeling to grow. It’s mostly about letting go. I usually start imagining my design when I am very relaxed, after a dip in the ocean or just before falling asleep. When I design a bridal collection, I feel a great sense of responsibility, so I try to wait for the perfect moment for the collection to be personal.
The diamonds in Amoureux Madison are fancy-cut Top Wesselton VVS. Why was this particular diamond important for you in this collection?
This exclusive collection represents a milestone for me and the company, so it was important to work with exquisite diamonds. I wanted the rings to be the ultimate gift of love. It is also my first time working with oval-shaped diamonds, and I love the way the stones elongate the wave bands.
The wave bands are a signature feature of your designs, what inspired this design element?
The ocean. It has been an everlasting source of inspiration for me. I often refer to the distinct point on the horizon where the ocean and the sky meet, when two different things gather and become a perfect fit. I want my band to feel like a hug of gold around the finger, and I believe that the wave shape carries this feeling of two being one.
What’s your take on the growing trend of unconventional engagement rings?
I can see that women want to wear their jewelry differently; they want it to be more personal, to tell their story. I try to give my interpretation of classic designs in engagement rings something more modern and timeless. I see a lot of traditional diamond rings that are beautiful but sometimes feel too ladylike. I wouldn’t feel like myself wearing them. I try to work around those conventional rings to offer something that can become yours.
Is there a particular woman you have in mind when designing, how do you hope they feel when they wear one of your designs?
I don’t have a specific type of woman in mind when I create jewelry; I mostly design a ring that I would want to wear myself. I hope that she feels like the piece she is wearing can tell her story and carry a feeling of love forever.
Guide us through the experience couples can expect when booking an appointment in your New York boutique.
When someone enters the New York boutique, they take a step into my universe. I tried to create a Scandinavian palazzo that tells my story so that people could understand my collections better. I wanted this space to bring a feeling of calm and voluptuousness. Quite often, when a couple comes to the boutique, it is to purchase jewelry that will mark a major step in their life, so it’s important to me that the experience matches their expectations. It has to feel special.
Finally, what is the one tip you have for engaged couples?
When selecting an engagement ring, my advice is to always prioritize top-quality stones. I recommend a Top Wesselton diamond, which we use, as it ensures brilliance and lasting beauty. Beyond the stone itself, it’s essential to choose a piece that reflects the wearer, as it will accompany them throughout their life.
