Under the palms in Cabo, Holly and Calvin welcomed their guests to an evening that felt deeply intentional and atmospheric – entirely their own. The farm setting became a canvas for a celestial-inspired design by THE WED member, wedding planner Marianna Idirin. Circular forms, sculptural furniture, moonlike textures, and warm Baja tones created an immersive yet intimate space. A custom bar with a lunar finish, radiant yellow florals, layered table settings, and a dramatic moon installation brought a subtle sense of magic to the evening. The atmosphere was elevated yet relaxed, anchored by venue’s natural beauty, flickering lights, and thoughtful sensory details throughout the night. Holly’s bridal look mirrored the mood perfectly, pairing a Danielle Frankel corset with tailored pants and statement Tom Ford slingbacks for an effortlessly fashion-forward take on welcome-party style. As the evening progressed, guests enjoyed cocktails, fire dancers, tarot readings, and instant editorial portraits captured by THE WED member LA76 Photography, with content for the celebration beautifully created by our member, content creator Ever After. The celebration felt less like a prelude and more like a unique, personal, and artful moment.
Our Love Story
The Day We Met
We first met as teenagers in 2008 in my parents’ garage, where Calvin was buying a motorcycle from my brother. We spent the next couple of years running into each other through mutual friends, and later reconnected during my freshman year of college. A string of daily messages during my 8 a.m. class led to a dinner-and-ice-cream date, and we’ve been inseparable ever since!

The Proposal
Calvin proposed in Cabo last March on the balcony of the panoramic suite at The Cape during sunset. I was completely surprised — I didn’t even have a fresh manicure because he insisted my slightly grown-out butter-yellow nails “looked fine.” We’d just come back from the pool and were getting ready for dinner when he suggested champagne and tequila shots before watching the sunset. Looking back, the signs were obvious, but I was convinced the proposal would happen during our trip to Europe in May. Instead, it happened in the most perfect and private way, with the most beautiful view in Cabo behind us.
The Engagement Ring
I’ve always loved a classic round brilliant: simple, elegant, and forever timeless. I showed Calvin a photo years ago, and he remembered. He worked with his uncle, Thao, to create my ring, which makes it all the more meaningful.

Our Welcome Dinner
The Vision
We wanted our welcome party to be a whimsical, Baja-inspired celebration. The theme revolved around circles and celestial elements — symbols of unity, eternity, and the cycles that shape our lives. March 13 is especially meaningful for us, as it’s both the birthday and passing date of our dog, Princess, so incorporating circles and the full moon felt deeply symbolic. Calvin and I have always loved full moons, and having the event fall on a total lunar blood moon eclipse — a phenomenon that only happens a handful of times in a decade — made it feel cosmically aligned.
Our Team of Vendors
I actually found our planner, Marianna, on Pinterest and fell in love with her aesthetic before realizing she had worked on one of my friend’s weddings. After hearing my friend rave about her, it was an instant yes. She understood our vision with almost no explanation. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better vendor team. We booked almost all of them without even speaking to them because we trusted Marianna and her team completely. After booking, we gave a few reference photos and a general vision, then let everyone do what they do best. Every vendor was a true artist and professional, bringing warmth, kindness, and so much positive energy. They brought the day to life in a way that felt effortless and so us, while also making the entire experience genuinely fun.
The Location
We chose to host our welcome party at Acre because we love the atmosphere, the farm-to-table food, and the animals. It’s one of our favorite places to visit whenever we’re in Cabo, and we wanted our guests to experience it too. When we saw their new venue, Los Agaves, we instantly knew it was the ideal setting for our welcome party because the architecture and landscape tied into our themes perfectly.

The Cocktails & Drinks
Acre has so many great cocktails that picking just two was the hardest part. We chose two light, refreshing options that happened to match the night’s color scheme: the Green Agave (mezcal, green chartreuse, pineapple sage syrup, and lime) and a bugambilia cocktail with vodka, honey-ginger syrup, bugambilia soda, and fresh lemon.
The Dinner
We’re huge fans of Acre’s food, so we knew the menu would be one of our favorite parts of the night. We suggested adding a few Mexican-Vietnamese fusion dishes, and they immediately loved the idea. Their culinary team embraced the flavors completely, making the menu feel both personal and unexpected.
The Special Touches
One of our favorite touches was the four-hour cover-song playlist Calvin made, which perfectly set the mood and was such a hit that guests and vendors asked for the link. Our stationer created pieces that felt more like artwork than traditional stationery, inspired by Princess, our travels, and the Baja landscape.

Marianna and her team custom-made a moon-textured bar and surprised us with a giant moon installation for the photo backdrop — guests truly thought it was part of the venue. Instead of a traditional photo booth, we had a photographer taking instant editorial-style portraits, which everyone loved. A tarot card reader, fire dancers, and thoughtful sensory details like fresh incense completed the experience, making it the full-moon eclipse party of our dreams.
Our Favorite Moment
Seeing the space for the first time was unforgettable. Los Agaves is essentially a blank canvas, and Marianna and her team transformed it into something cozy and intimate while matching the theme perfectly. It truly took our breath away. A bonus favorite moment was watching the eclipse later that night. It became fully visible after the party ended, and we were all back at the hotel trying (and failing) to photograph it on our phones. Thankfully, our brilliant photographers stayed up to capture it properly — and their shot was a million times better than our blurry attempts.

Our Style
The Bridal Looks
I am completely obsessed with Danielle Frankel, so I flew to New York to visit the atelier and try everything on in person. The craftsmanship, the fabric, the structure — nothing compares. My mouth actually dropped when I first tried on the Anika corset. It felt modern, sculptural, and so aligned with my style. I paired it with tailored pants for a more contemporary look and found crocodile-print Tom Ford slingbacks that tied everything together.
The Groom Looks
Calvin knew he wanted a green suit, and while searching, he stumbled across the Perte d’Ego floral-embroidered sage suit. It couldn’t have matched the Los Agaves vibe any better. He also happened to have a brand-new pair of Alexander McQueen sneakers that matched it to a tee.

Our Advice
For the Planning Process
Choose a planner and vendors who genuinely align with your vision and aesthetic. It makes such a difference to work with people whose artistry you love and whose professionalism you can rely on. When you feel confident in your team, you can truly relax and enjoy the day. I also think it helps to think about everything you’ve ever appreciated as a wedding guest and try to incorporate those touches. Creating an unforgettable guest experience is something people will remember long after the night is over.
For On The Day
The day flies by, so make sure you actually enjoy the food, the drinks, and all the activities you planned. Don’t rush through the night — be present and experience everything you spent months planning and creating.
