Exciting news! The host of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Alex Cooper, and her long-term partner, Hollywood producer Matt Kaplan are now officially married! The happy couple tied the knot earlier this month during a stunning wedding weekend in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Here, we share some of the highlights from Alex & Matt’s big day.
Their beautiful journey together began four years ago, in the midst of a pandemic. It all started with a business Zoom call where Alex was discussing a project with television and film companies, and Matt, being a producer, was also part of the meeting. While Alex's project didn't quite work out, it was a beginnig of something more magical - an everlasting love story. The two instantly hit it off, and were soon in a happy relationship.
Alex always saw herself more in "life partner" relationships rather than getting married, and she was open about this with Matt from the start. But seeing his unconditional love, support, and care made her re-think her opinion on marriage. In May 2023, Matt finally proposed to Alex in a very creative and cute way by planning a fun scavenger hunt throughout their house. Each room was styled to reflect a theme within their romance. The hints led Alex to the courtyard, where Matt popped the question beneath a stunning canopy of flowers.
Matt managed most of the wedding planning, handling almost everything by himself. The two imagined a laid-back, atmospheric and relaxing celebration with a small guest list of close friends and family. To coordinate all the logistics and decor, the couple teamed up with planners from Bash Please.
Set on the eastern coast of Mexico, the wedding weekend kicked off with a lively welcome party, leading into a romantic rehearsal dinner the following day. The beautiful ceremony was everything Alex & Matt wanted - emotional, heartfelt and uniquely theirs. Breaking tradition, Alex made her entrance down the aisle solo, wearing a custom silk wool square neck ball gown from Danielle Frankel, which she paired with custom Jimmy Choo sandals and jewelry. Grant, the bride’s brother, officiated the ceremony, and the couple’s beloved dogs, Henry and Bruce, proudly took the role of ring bearers.
After the touching ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests gathered for a cocktail hour, which smoothly transitioned into a beachside dinner in an open-air tent. Alex made a wardrobe switch for the reception, slipping into a silk chiffon corset dress by Alexander McQueen and Jimmy Choo Metz sandals. Later in the evening, she made her final outfit change into a Gianni Versace ecru lace-up, custom skirt and Jimmy Choo satin step-ins, ideal for dancing the night away.
The celebration ended on a beautiful note, with Alex, Matt and their guests ran into the ocean, celebrating the beginning of a new chapter with pure happiness and excitement.
“Matt and I were both so intentional about making the weekend about being present with each other and our friends and family, and that’s exactly what we did,” shared Alex in her interview with Vogue.
