Somewhere between dream and reality, enveloped in rich red

Your wedding day is a chance to showcase every facet of who you are. This idea anchors the entire concept behind photographer Elita Coralee’s latest editorial, As the World Falls Down in Red. Drawing from the dreamlike surrealism of fantasy film Labyrinth, the graphic punch of iconic ’80s editorials, and the sculptural tension of unconventional architecture, she paints a visual narrative washed in a striking palette of whites and reds.

At the heart of the design is the “dripping candle” motif. A subtle yet unmistakable reference to the film’s iconic ballroom scene. It threads its way through the florals in trails of red amaranthus, spilling effortlessly from a cascading installation that pools across the accent table. Equally compelling is the interplay between the clean white backdrop of the venue and the vivid red flooring of the Seattle Central Library, creating a charged visual dialogue. Its signature red stairs beautifully nod to Labyrinth’s hypnotic staircase sequence, where gravity bends and reality begins to blur. As the World Falls Down in Red is proof that weddings can be deeply inspired, imaginative, and rooted in the stories that shape us.
