Immerse yourself in a world of timeless elegance and romance, where every detail has been thoughtfully crafted to tell the enchanting love story of María and Dani. The wedding’s floral design, centered around the vibrant amaranthus flower, flowed throughout the ceremonial Basilica, creating a breathtaking visual symphony that captivated all who attended. For the reception, moss, white hypericum, and green wild fruits adorned the tables, setting the stage for an intimate, candlelit dinner that felt like a dream come true. Couples’ fashion brand brought their vision to life, with María wearing a custom-designed bridal gown and her bridesmaids donning equally stunning creations – each dress a true work of art. María and Dani's wedding was the perfect blend of romance, artistry, and timeless beauty.
Our Love Story
The Day We Met
The first time we met was six months before our first date. At the time, I was in my first year of Fashion Design, and each year the university organized a fashion show. Dani was supposed to be my model and wear my design (though it didn’t happen in the end), but we still said "Hi" to each other. A few months later, we started talking, and after a few weeks, we decided to go on our first date. We went to our local modern art museum and had dinner at my favorite vegan restaurant. We kissed for the first time a few dates after that (it was my first kiss) and officially started dating on January 3, 2020.
The Proposal
Dani proposed to me at the top of the castle at Fairy Glen in the Isle of Skye, Scotland. We were on a road trip through all of Scotland and spent three days in Skye. It’s such a special place—the whole island, really—and we can’t wait to visit it again.
The Engagement Ring
The engagement ring is a gold band with pale green and pink tourmalines that form the shape of a flower. I think it was the perfect choice for me. I liked the idea of a solitaire, but I think it would’ve been the easy way out. I love that the ring represents me—these are my favorite colors and the ones Dani thinks of when he thinks of me—and that he chose something that isn’t the obvious choice.
Our Wedding
The Vision
We had dreamed of a candlelit dinner in a garden, and at first, it seemed impossible. We started planning the wedding only six months in advance, so most venues and churches were already fully booked. It was very challenging to find a date that worked for both locations, but in the end, we were able to get married in the same church as my parents—exactly 25 years later—and celebrate the dinner in a beautiful garden.
Our Team of Vendors
Most of our vendors were either people we knew personally or were recommended by our wedding planner, Elena of El Amor Productions. We are extremely happy with all of them! Florals were by Ócrea Flower Shop, whose owner, Álvaro Muñoz, creates beautiful bouquets. We trusted his expertise completely, and he worked in constant coordination with El Amor Productions to ensure the floral decorations enhanced the overall wedding concept. The amaranthus flower served as the foundation for much of the floral design. On the presidential table, it cascaded beautifully, crowned by Tokyo orchids. For the guest tables, it was paired with a base of moss, white hypericum, green wild fruits, and branches of green and pink asparagus.
The bridal bouquet was a stunning creation made with long branches of variegated ivy and 120 cascading branches of Tokyo orchids. The bridesmaids carried elegant bouquets of long-stemmed white calla lilies. For the overall decoration, we entrusted everything to El Amor Productions. After an initial meeting to define the concept and share reference pictures, they took charge of coordinating every detail, keeping us updated throughout the process. We wanted a very large cake, and Ela Hornea did an incredible job creating a one-layer cake with a 90 cm diameter—it was truly spectacular.
The Location
We chose a palace and garden near San Antonio de Benagéber, Valencia.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the Basilica de San Vicente Ferrer. At the Basilica, the altar was adorned with centerpieces that complemented the grand bridal bouquet, while the pews were decorated with white satin ribbons. A children’s choir performed during the ceremony, providing the perfect soundtrack to this special moment.
The Reception
During our reception, we started with a cocktail hour in the front part of the garden, where we had a live harpist playing for the first two hours. For the cocktail table décor, El Amor Productions collaborated with Pipeta, an innovative studio specializing in creative culinary experiences. Together, we designed a variegated artistic installation featuring grapes, ribbons, and alpaca tableware—a choice that complemented the cheese table beautifully.
After the cocktail, we moved on to the secret garden, where we had our candlelit dinner. For the venue décor, El Amor Productions partnered with Betto García for the textile production. Betto, a renowned accessories designer who also creates textile installations for luxury brands, and his team were the perfect choice to bring life to the seating plan, the photocall at the reception, and the presidential table.
The Special Touches
It was important to us to gift our guests something both meaningful and practical that also represented us. We collaborated with Lu Candles to create a personalized scent for the candles we gifted. The scent featured notes of sandalwood, cedar, cardamom, amber, and patchouli. Dani and I also designed the packaging ourselves, adding a truly personal touch.
Our Favorite Moment
The moment that stands out most to us was the arrival at the basilica. Dani had been waiting and greeting guests for half an hour when suddenly he heard shouts of "The bride!" and "The bride is here!" I arrived exactly on time at 16:59, instead of the usual five to ten minutes late for a bride, which took everyone by surprise. Dani quickly turned around, and the only people he could see were our bridesmaids, who were crying as they watched me perfect my veil and dress for the entrance.
Our Style
The Bridal Looks
My first dress was a custom creation from Avec Amour, designed by me and made by my former pattern-making teacher, Mari Carmen Francés López. I wanted something simple that I would still love 30 years from now, while also reflecting my style 100%. The volume was inspired by my favorite movie, Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, and I chose a champagne-colored silk duchesse fabric—I’ve always disliked how pure white looks on me. The shoes, inspired by ballet flats, were from the emerging brand Madomorpho, a nod to my years as a ballerina during childhood. Ballet is something I always carry with me.
The bow on the back was the finishing touch, perfectly completing the dress. It also matched the bows that decorated the church pews and the reception. My second dress was a Vivienne Westwood design from 10 years ago that was never released (or at least I haven’t found any record of it). It was also made by Mari Carmen Francés. I discovered this design thanks to a friend who worked for the brand and managed to save a pair of toiles, one of which he gifted to me. The first time I tried it on, I sent a photo to my friends saying, "This will be my wedding dress." A couple of years later, it was.
Our Bridesmaid’s Looks
All eight of our bridesmaids wore custom Avec Amour dresses designed and made by me. I worked on them for months, tailoring each one to fit each girl perfectly. Every dress featured 35 ceramic flowers, which we handmade and hand-sewed onto the dresses.
The Groom Looks
Dani opted for a more conventional cut. He wanted the suit to age well, and I completely agreed with him. He admitted that, a week before the wedding, he had considered wearing a suit from the brand Pellicer, which featured a cinched waist. Unfortunately, the sample that Gio Pellicer, the designer, sent didn’t fit, so he reverted to something more traditional: a black suit with a tailored vest, a tie made from the fabric of my first dress (the material was his only clue), and patent leather shoes.
Our Advice
For The Planning Process
We’d say the most important thing is to find someone you trust to help you organize and plan everything. You’d be surprised by how many details you have to manage for a wedding—we weren’t ready for it at all—and any extra help is invaluable.
In our case, we were lucky to have Elena from El Amor Productions handle the logistics and coordinate with all our vendors. We couldn’t have done it without her.
For On The Day
Plan ahead! Getting ready and arriving at the venue will take more time than you expect. We’d also recommend doing your best to contain your nerves and enjoy the process. Think of it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience and embrace the excitement. Lastly, try to be as present as possible—it all goes by so quickly.
For Post-Wedding
Rest! And make an effort to save as many stories from your guests as you can. Otherwise, they might be lost forever.
