Under the golden glow of the Italian summer sun, in a villa steeped in centuries of history, influencer Ida Edith and partner Casper hosted a three-day celebration of their love. Every detail, from the intimate chapel ceremony to the candlelit dinner in a 16th-century hall, had a touch of romance. Guests enjoyed a weekend filled with thoughtful surprises, including a tennis match and a beauty bar, each moment personally crafted to reflect Ida and Casper's love story. With a combination of heartfelt traditions and undeniable elegance, Ida and Casper tied the knot in a wedding just as beautiful as their story.
Our Love Story
The Day We Met
It's really a silly story. We were all 17, and my best friend thought Casper looked cute. However, when she found out his name was the same as her cat's, she decided she couldn't date him. So, I got the chance to talk to him instead. Today, we laugh a lot about how my friend's cat is the reason we started talking and eventually became a couple.
The Proposal
I was on a family vacation in New York at the start of when we first began talking. Unfortunately, I got really sick during the trip and ended up in the hospital. While I was there, we ended up messaging each other a lot, and that's when I realized he was a keeper. New York holds a special place in our hearts because of this, which is why we’ve traveled there many times during our relationship. Then, one Christmas Eve in New York, Casper took me up to the Empire State Building and proposed. He chose the Empire State because it's featured in so many movies, and since I love rom-coms, it felt like the perfect spot. Now, every time I watch a rom-com, I get to remember the place where he proposed, which I think is so sweet.
The Engagement Ring
I’ve never felt like the type of person who could pull off a classic princess-cut ring, so I always told Casper that he could just buy a vintage ring, as I love things that have a story. However, Casper felt that my engagement ring shouldn’t carry someone else’s story; it should start with ours. So, he designed it himself and was involved in selecting the diamond. Inside the ring, there are some numbers that only make sense to Casper and our story.
The Wedding Rings
It was very difficult for us to have a child, and it took a long time, with many lost pregnancies along the way. When I finally became a mother, Casper found a jewelry designer (Libelula Jewelry) who creates name necklaces with diamonds. For my first Mother’s Day, I received a necklace with our daughter’s name, Aia, which means "miracle." The most amazing part was that there were exactly as many diamonds in the necklace, shaped to form Aia’s name, as it took for us to have her. I thought that was so beautiful, and I had to share this story with the owner of Libelula Jewelry. When I found out that Camilla also made wedding rings, it was clear that she should make mine. I also wore the most beautiful diamond necklace from her at our wedding. Casper's ring is from the Danish brand Georg Jensen, one of the most prestigious jewelry brands in Denmark.
Our Wedding
Pre-Wedding Events
We organized different pre-wedding events for the men and women: For the men, we teamed up with Uniqlo to host a tennis match, and for the women, we created a glamorous experience with a Bobbi Brown collaboration at our exclusive glam bar.
The Vision
In Denmark, we have a very special word that only exists in Danish and cannot be directly translated – it's called "Hygge." Our wedding was exactly that. It was simple, with no excess decorations, flowers, or anything unnecessary. The focus was on love and the long journey we’ve had as a couple. As a result, it was a magical celebration that lasted for three days, with the party continuing every night until the early morning. People danced and celebrated until 9 a.m. the next day.
It was very important to us that everything had meaning. For that reason, we chose to have the same priest who baptized our daughter marry us in Italy. The singers who performed at the dinner and in the church were artists who had written songs that hold great significance for us. You could really feel that our guests were deeply moved by the choices we had made.
Our Team of Vendors
Since the theme for our wedding was "old Italian family wedding," it was a natural choice to choose my brother and his partner’s company, Gas.Op, to make the food for the entire weekend. They provide fine dining for brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Prada, and Tiffany for their events in the Nordics. For the wedding evening, we had a six-course menu that was a beautiful blend of Nordic and Italian dishes.
All the food was made with local ingredients, with a focus on supporting the surrounding community. Because of this, we didn’t have a tasting menu, and Gas.Op had full freedom to create the menu based on what they found at the local food markets. As a result, the menu card was printed just a few days before the wedding, as we didn’t know what the dishes would be.
The food itself was designed to be served family-style and presented on beautiful vintage silverware from Pouf Copenhagen, who curated stunning pieces that were used throughout the entire weekend for all the servings.
The Location
We met when we were 18, and from the very beginning, we decided to skip buying each other birthday gifts, Christmas presents, and anniversary gifts. Instead, we made the decision to travel the world together. And that’s exactly what we’ve been doing for the past 15 years—we’ve now visited over 60 countries together.
Our wedding is a reflection of our love for travel, which is why we’ve incorporated it into every aspect of the celebration. The artist who hand-drew our logo and created the graphics is from Argentina, the dress was designed in Paris, our wedding was held in Italy, the chefs came from Denmark, and the photographers were from Portugal. Everything was handpicked for our big day.
So why Italy? The reason we chose to have our wedding in Italy is because, whenever we lost a pregnancy or received bad news from our fertility clinic, we would travel to Italy to find solace. We have always loved the country’s beautiful architecture and amazing food. So, when we found a small villa in a little town in Italy, owned by a British woman who was the first woman in England to have an IVF baby, we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. It felt especially meaningful since our daughter is also an IVF baby.
The Ceremony
When we started looking for a location, I initially dreamed of a grand place to hold our ceremony, and I found a few, but the venue for the dinner wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned. I couldn’t find a place that fulfilled everything I wanted. So, we decided that our ceremony would take place in a tiny chapel located in the villa. And it actually turned out to be perfect. Edénique Floral Design, who was my set designer, and I created a look where we removed all the distractions and chose not to have any flowers at all. We wanted the space to be as bare as possible – so the only thing that filled the room was love. It was a magical moment, and people cried from start to finish, with the little room filled with love.
The Reception
It was important to me that our wedding weekend was an experience, so we decided not to tell the guests too much about the days or what would happen. They didn’t know where things would take place or what they would experience throughout the weekend.
Additionally, it was important for me that each place the guests went to was a new set design and experience, so each event we had would tell a new story. For our reception, I wanted two round tables, and then Edénique Floral Design and With Lotte had free reign to create a magical experience for our guests. We didn’t attend the reception ourselves, as we wanted to take a drive and have one hour alone with our daughter to enjoy the time together.
The Special Touches
Lucrecia Rey Caro hand-painted our wedding’s graphic identity and created hand-painted invitations. In addition, she hand-painted the nameplates for the wedding dinner and also painted the goodie bags for our guests. To give us a lasting memory from the wedding, Lucrecia created a large painting, which now hangs in our living room, tying it all together.
Our Favorite Moment
There were two things: our ceremony, where a beautiful Danish song was sung, and everyone was moved, even the photographer and others who didn’t understand Danish. And then there was our wedding dinner. Our wedding dinner was held in a beautiful villa from the early 1500s. The dining hall itself had a 15-meter-high ceiling, and to allow everyone to fully appreciate the stunning architecture and history of the place, all the guests were dressed in black, which was magical. The dinner was a candlelight dinner.
Our Style
The Bridal Looks
The dresses also had to have a deeper meaning than just being a wedding dress. For that reason, it was important to find a dress from London and Paris. My wedding dress was designed in collaboration with the talented Rime from Rime Arodaky, a French designer. Having worked and studied in Paris, it was such a beautiful process to have the dress come from Paris as a tribute to my youth and love for the city. It was an incredibly special experience to be part of designing my dress with such a skilled designer like Rime, and the dress itself was created with an old Italian vibe, so it perfectly matched the theme of the wedding.
My Friday dress and reception dress were made by The Own Studio from London. Casper studied in London, and what made it even more magical was that The Own Studio’s office is located on the same street where Casper used to live. It just made so much sense for them to create the two dresses.
The Groom Looks
Casper kept his style classic and elegant throughout the wedding. For the Friday dinner, he wore a tailored suit by Mark Tan with Gucci shoes. For the ceremony, he chose another custom suit by Mark Tan paired with Dior shoes. At the wedding dinner, he switched to another suit by Oscar Jacobson, completing the look again with Dior footwear.
Our Bridesmaid’s and Groomsmen’s Looks
The bridesmaids were dressed in brown for the ceremony. Just before the wedding, the bridesmaids and the best man worked together to decorate the bridal car. At the back of the car, there were cans, and on each can, each bridesmaid and the best man wrote a heartfelt wish for us as a couple.
Our Daughter's Looks
Our daughter, Aia, wore a lovely dress from Bonton for the ceremony and later changed into a Bonpoint dress.
Our Advice
For The Planning Process
The process was very complicated and not very fun. Everything that could go smoothly went wrong. So, if I were to marry Casper again, it would definitely be the planning process that I would change. Two years of hard work, many tears, and dreams along the way were shattered because of things like budget issues, suppliers being double-booked and having to cancel, etc. I eventually realized that it was a waste of energy to have been so worried about everything, as all the things we had spent two years planning were changed down there because of the weather.
For On The Day
Enjoy it! It really is the best day of your life, and the day goes by so fast.
For Post-Wedding
I know these are two classic answers, but it’s important for all future brides to have a good wedding planner and a solid plan B. We were unfortunate with both. First, we had an Italian wedding planner, then a Danish one, and neither of the collaborations had a happy ending. On top of that, we had the worst weather, and many things were changed or didn’t happen because of it. But I’m so grateful to Gas.Op, Edénique Floral Design, and With Lotte for solving all the challenges during the weekend. I’m so thankful we had some incredibly skilled suppliers, so when problems arose, they handled them, especially since we didn’t have a wedding planner to solve the issues.
