An Effortlessly Chic Garden Wedding in Mallorca with Vintage Details & Mountain Views

For Nick and Nicole, Mallorca was never just a backdrop — it was part of the story, brought to life beautifully through the lens of THE WED member Sara De Blas. Their wedding weekend moved through some of the island’s most atmospheric settings, from vegetable gardens to the lush grounds of Jardines de Alfabia. Every celebration had its own visual language, tied together by an Amor Eterno motif and a playful Sacred Heart emblem that appeared across custom stationery, fans, fabrics, and even a boat flag. At welcome party, antique lace, hand-dyed botanical textiles, grass-inspired florals, and fire-cooked food created an intimate, handmade mood. For the wedding day, the gardens became a romantic setting for sculptural florals, long tables, and layers of personal details. With local makers, musicians, florists, and artists woven into every part of the weekend, the result felt less like a single wedding aesthetic and more like a world created entirely for two people.

Our Welcome Party

The Location

We hosted our welcome party at SOLU, a regenerative farm in Alaró run by the wonderful Larissa and Giuliano, who have created a true sanctuary in Mallorca. Set against the backdrop of the Tramuntana Mountains, the party took place throughout the vegetable gardens. Everything we served came from the farm, including grilled bites cooked over an open fire and wines from their vineyard.

Décor and Ambiance

We wanted the welcome party to feel relaxed and handmade, with found fabrics and layered textures throughout. Lucia of Serra Flowers, whose flower farm is located at SOLU, created a stunning, mountain-framed backdrop using antique lace gifted to her by a dear friend on her own wedding day. Around the backdrop and throughout the lounge areas, she arranged natural, grass-inspired florals that made the décor feel effortless. A beautiful grazing table was set beneath an almond tree, where an 8-meter, hand-dyed botanical fabric menu hung. Lucia and Larissa sourced vintage lace and crocheted fabrics to cover the high-top tables scattered throughout the vegetable gardens.

Our Style

We had so much fun collaborating with talented local makers and producers for the welcome party, and we wanted that spirit to really come through for our guests. Rom, a Spanish artist, hand-painted a tablecloth that became the setting for local band Juanda to sit and play acoustic guitar around, inspired by C. Tangana’s Tiny Desk concert. The whole evening felt like a dream.

Our Love Story

The Day We Met

Nick had just moved to New York to start graduate school at Columbia, settling into East Harlem, while I had been living in the Lower East Side for a few years and working in affordable housing. We matched on Hinge in 2022, and what started with subway rides across Manhattan quickly turned into something much bigger. From the beginning, we connected over a shared set of values. I work in affordable and mixed-income housing, while Nick had spent four years in Nepal with a nonprofit before pursuing sustainable water and agriculture policy. Although our paths were different, we shared a genuine desire to do meaningful work, and that was something we admired in each other.

The Proposal

Nick planned the most us proposal I could have imagined: a surprise scavenger hunt through our neighborhood in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, all from the back of a pedicab he somehow convinced to come to Brooklyn on a Saturday afternoon. Each clue led me to one of our favorite neighborhood spots, with a friend or family member waiting to surprise me along the way—including a stop at McNally Jackson, where I was handed a copy of The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.

The afternoon ended at the Williamsburg waterfront, where Nick proposed as a saxophonist played This Must Be the Place. We celebrated the rest of the evening on the rooftop of our building, surrounded by our closest friends and family, with live music and drinks as the sun set over the Manhattan skyline. It was intimate, joyful, and one of those days we'll cherish forever.

The Engagement Ring

My engagement ring and wedding band were both custom-made by New York City-based jeweler Arielle Ratner. My engagement ring has a pear-shaped diamond set at an angle on a gold band, and my wedding band was designed to mirror its shape, nestling beneath the angled stone.

Our Wedding

The Vision

We fell in love with Mallorca and knew we wanted our wedding weekend to be a celebration of our love and the island itself. Each venue showed a different side of the island: We welcomed everyone at SOLU Farm, a working regenerative farm in the center of the island; our wedding day was in the gardens of Sóller; and we closed the weekend by the sea at Suculenta, lingering over a long meal—a final sobremesa. Our weekend was designed around an Amor Eterno motif, with a custom Sacred Heart logo designed by my close friend, Sam Manock. Sam and I worked on a design suite drawing on the idea of eternal love while giving it a playful, flirty edge. We also wanted the weekend to reflect the cultures that shaped us, weaving together our Catholic, Jewish, and Lebanese traditions in a way that felt authentic to both of us.

Our Team of Vendors

Our entire vendor team was local to Mallorca, and by the end of the planning process, they felt much more like friends. Working with people who shared our vision and embraced the creative process made the planning experience easy. We are so grateful to Events by L for bringing the weekend together; to SOLU Farm and Serra Flowers for creating the most intimate farm-to-table welcome dinner; to Panela Productions for the amazing music and lighting; and to our incredible photographer, Sara De Blas, for capturing it all so beautifully.

The Location

Our ceremony was held at Església de Sant Bartomeu, a Spanish Gothic church in the center of Sóller, followed by our reception at Jardines de Alfabia. The Jardines are like a fairy tale, with sprawling gardens and fountains. We were especially drawn to the venue's Arabic architectural character, and when we discovered the outdoor dining area was centered around a huge cedar tree, it felt like such a beautiful callback to my Lebanese roots.

The Ceremony

We actually had two ceremonies: a Catholic ceremony at Església de Sant Bartomeu, followed by a Jewish ceremony at Jardines de Alfabia. Our Catholic ceremony felt so personal and a little surreal in the best way. Nick's best man, Guffi, played the guitar and sang If You Need Me as Nick and our bridal party walked down the aisle, and my maid of honor, Kat, sang Ave Maria as I walked down the aisle with my father. Our priest, Father Nico, ended the Mass by leading everyone in singing Alleluia, and then we walked out to a flower toss while friends sang God Only Knows.

We jumped into a vintage Chevrolet, and since the church was right in the town center, it felt like the whole town was cheering us on. It was very cinematic. Once we arrived at Jardines, Nick's twin sister led a beautiful Jewish ceremony, with Nick's great-grandfather's tallit wrapped around our shoulders. Seeing our whole community come together around both of our faiths was really special.

The Cocktail Hour

Immediately after the Jewish ceremony, Lebanese drummers entered with darbukas and launched into a Zaffa in the courtyard of the Jardines. They led our guests and us along the garden path to cocktail hour, where espresso martinis and white Negronis were waiting. Our florist created stunning, whimsical arrangements for the bars, paired with custom coasters designed by my friends, featuring texts on the back that Nick had sent in broken Spanish after one of our first dates.

The Reception

Our reception took place outdoors, with a large U-shaped seating arrangement anchored by a rectangular center table where we sat with our bridal party and immediate family. We wanted the florals to feel as though they were part of the gardens themselves, and Little Sister created an incredible centerpiece for the main table that looked like a field of lilies. Our band, The Late Night Show, performed on a stage with a two-tone fabric backdrop throughout dinner and into the evening.

The Special Touches

We had so much fun bringing the details to life, and I loved using the wedding as an opportunity to collaborate with friends on personal design touches. My close friend Sam and I created custom stationery and pieces for the entire weekend, from an Amor Eterno boat flag and custom fans to the projections used during our Club Nico after-party. Some of my incredibly talented friends sent hand-sketched flowers, which we used to create a garden-inspired cover for our ceremony program. The whole process was creatively inspiring and made the entire weekend feel even more personal.

Our Favorite Moment

After our first dance, our siblings and parents surprised us with a loosely rehearsed dance on stage. It was lighthearted, a bit chaotic, and full of love—a perfect reflection of our now-combined families. There was also a moment during the Jewish ceremony, right after Nick and I shared our personal vows, when we faced all our friends and family. That memory will be with us forever.

Our Style

The Bridal Looks

I had so much fun putting together my bridal looks! For the welcome party, I wore a Kettle Atelier dress with Castañer wedges, SACH Atelier flower hairpins, and a custom embroidered fan by local artisan Angela Yuste. I also got my mom matching SACH earrings to wear that evening. I loved sourcing this look entirely from Spanish designers and brands.

For the wedding, I wore the Ness Dress from WED Studio with the Bloom Veil. I got my wedding dress and did all my tailoring with the incredible Belle Atelier in NYC; we had so much fun creating a flirty, ’90s-inspired bustle. I wore pale pink Jimmy Choo pumps for the ceremony, then changed into Dolce Vita block heels for the rest of the party. For my reception look, I changed into a Seline Meisler two-piece corset and skirt set.

The Groom Looks

Nick wore a SuitSupply tuxedo with a Bode cross tie and a vintage Edouard Rambaud sun pin we found in a Paris thrift store. Later in the night, he changed into a shirt embroidered with “Stay with Me” in Arabic on the chest.

Our Bridesmaids’ Looks

My bridesmaids and our moms wore shades of green, pink, and plum. They looked absolutely stunning.

Our Advice

For the Planning Process

Focus your energy on the details or moments that genuinely bring you joy, and try to let the rest go. Inviting friends and family into the creative process can make planning feel even more meaningful. If you’re having a destination wedding and can make it work, we recommend spending a weekend visiting your venues and meeting your vendors in person. For us, that trip was one of our favorite weekends of the whole experience; it made everything feel real.

For On The Day

Start the day with a slow, relaxed morning, and then soak in all the energy throughout the day. The ceremonies felt very surreal and emotional, so it was so helpful to take a private moment during cocktail hour, just the two of us, to have a drink. This really helped us loosen up, enjoy the rest of the night, and just party.

For Post-Wedding

Right after the wedding, sit down together for a full recap and write down your favorite moments while they’re still fresh. Those memories feel so vivid in the days afterward, and it’s been so nice to look back on those notes. We also loved getting the post-wedding debrief voice notes from our friends and saved all of them.
