Cleansing oils and oil-based balms have become a real hit in skincare over the past few years. However, many may encounter a variety of problems when using them, such as a lack of noticeable cleansing or even clogged pores. Ideally, cleansing oils should perfectly cleanse pores and wash off even long-lasting make-up when used consistently without drying out the skin. Read below to learn about common mistakes and how you can achieve perfectly clear skin at home.
Apply Only to Dry Skin
You may find this step odd and unfamiliar the first time you try it. The cleansing oil should really be applied with clean hands to a dry face, whether it is with makeup or not. This way, surface impurities and makeup remains will be more effectively absorbed into the oil and will play a key role in cleansing.
Do Not Hurry
Try giving yourself a light facial massage while you remove your makeup or cleanse your pores. Using a cleansing oil is not a quick process. Allow the product to pick up as much impurities from your skin as possible. Take your time and think of it as a daily home spa treatment.
Use Warm Water
After the massage and the main stage of the oil's work, you need to activate it. Wet your hands with warm water and continue washing your face. This step will turn the oil on your dry face into a light emulsion, which will enhance the effect of the oil and continue cleansing. Also, this step prevents the oil from clogging your pores.
Double-Cleanse
Depending on the formulation of the oil, it may leave a light film on the face after rinsing off. If you don't like this effect or want a more advanced cleansing, we suggest continuing with a cleansing foam. Important: choose a product that suits your skin, but don't be afraid to opt for heavier foams rather than milder ones. This way, your pores are sure to stay clean.
Consider Your Skin Type
There are so many different types of clarifying oils on the market today: with acids, extracts and additional elements in their formula. Follow the recommendations of your aesthetician and choose the right products. Otherwise, you may not get any visible results simply because of an unsuitable skincare routine.
