Paris may be the final stop on the Fashion Month calendar, but it is definitely the first in our hearts. Over the past few days, we've seen industry mastodons like Dior, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Loewe, Balenciaga, and Louis Vuitton unveil their FW24 collections. But the most talked-about moment at PFW was hands down, the debut of Sean McGuirr as a Creative Director for Alexander McQueen. And the Irish designer did not disappoint! Without further ado, here are 5 trends we've spotted on the runway.
Sporty & Chic
Sweatpants. They are not only the epitome of comfort but also a stylish piece you just can’t go wrong with. For a sporty yet polished look, try matching your favorite sweatsuit with pointy-toe pumps, as seen at the Undercover show. Or take a cue from Dries van Noten and style your lounge bottoms with an oversized turtleneck sweater and chic heels. A fresh approach to sweats brought Brussels-based designer Ester Manas by showcasing them with the same cut and tailoring typically seen in office trousers.

Nature Motifs
Leopard prints were huge at Milan Fashion Week, and in Paris, nature-inspired and animalistic designs took center stage once again. Loewe’s Albert York-inspired show at Château de Vincennes brought a peaceful countryside vibe with bold floral prints and farm themes against the soothing green palette of the setting. And one of the highlights of Sean McGuirr’s debut for Alexander McQueen were the horse-hoof boots, which absolutely have viral potential. According to the newly appointed Creative Director of the brand, the collection is meant to “reveal the animal within.”

Yes to Sheers, No to Bras
“Free your nipples!” echoed as a major motto during the Paris fashion shows. Brands like Acne Studios, Coperni, Saint Laurent, Valentino and Courreges sent entirely sheer looks down their Fall/Winter 2024 runways. If you are a fan of risque, see-through styles, you'll be flooded with inspiration!

Second Life
Giving objects new life was one of the core themes at Balenciaga. Demna Gvasalia's latest collection featured clothes made out of unexpected items like backpacks and dust bags. Denim jeans and sweatpants were transformed into tops, and underwear into dresses. And if that's not enough, be sure to check out Ellen Hodakova Larsson's collection as well. A metal tray top, a briefcase dress, and a skirt made out of fur hats were our personal faves!

Errand-core
Grocery bag as a hand bag...why not? We all remember how Kim Kardashian turned to Balenciaga's L.A. show with a paper Erewhon bag. Then there's Bottega Veneta's Pre-Spring 2024 campaign featuring A$AP Rocky posing with a brown paper-style bag filled with flowers. A similar concept was seen at the Undercover show, inspired by Wim Wenders' "Perfect Days." Jun Takahashi's models walked down the runway casually holding plastic-style grocery bags with produce and flowers inside. Everyday life elements were also featured at Marine Serre's recent show and Moschino's Milan presentation.
