Mystic Outlands
Enchanting, eerie and slightly surreal — Mystic Outlands is the 2026 mood for couples craving a honeymoon that leans fairytale over flip flops and sunbathing. Think storybook landscapes and moody horizons: mist-draped castles in the Scottish Highlands, remote villages clinging to the cliffs of the Faroe Islands, or mirror-bright stretches of Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni that blur the line between sky and earth. Japan joins the list too, with destinations like Kyoto’s Arashiyama bamboo forest offering that quiet, dreamlike world Pinterest can’t get enough of. It’s romance for anyone who prefers twilight over tropical.

Darecations
Forget lounging, 2026 is all about trips with a pulse. Darecations tap into the new wave of adrenaline-leaning travel, where couples swap the typical kick-back-and-relax beach vacay for something a bit more adventurous. Patagonia is the poster child for this type of trip, with glacier treks, mountain routes and windswept trails built for the nature lovers and thrill seekers. Luxury boutique cruises with expeditions to Antarctica are climbing in interest too, offering kayaking through ice fields and offshore excursions featuring once-in-a-lifetime views. Think river-rafting weekends in Costa Rica, horseback expeditions in Iceland or cycling routes through the Dolomites.

Afrohemian
The “Afrohemian” trend draws from Africa’s coastlines and islands, where everything feels sun-drenched, colourful and deeply rooted in craft and culture. Destinations where warm-weather beaches meet rich, easygoing island culture. The Seychelles and Mauritius deliver that relaxed, turquoise-water calm with a dose of island culture woven in. Mozambique’s Bazaruto and Quirimbas archipelagos feel even more untouched, offering sand-dune islands, dhow boat trips and quiet, design-forward lodges. And then there’s Zanzibar, where spice markets, serene stretches of coast and small boutique hotels make the island feel instantly unforgettable.

Funhaus
Funhaus is all about playful, high-energy travel shaped by bold, design-forward style. Think boutique hotels that balance eccentricity with luxury and cities where bold color, whimsical architecture and creative expression set the tone. Couples this past year have increasingly sought out stays with personality, with smaller, design-focused hotels that feel anything but generic. That same spirit is showing up in destination choices too, with growing interest in design- and art-focused cities like Copenhagen, known for its playful design heritage and vibrant streets. Barcelona and Mexico City reflect the trend as well, with both cities celebrated for their expressive architecture, lively creative quarters and hotels that feel more like art spaces than traditional stays.

Wilderkind
Wilderkind leans into the quiet side of nature. Places with woodlands, wildflowers and forest hideaways that feel tranquil and restorative. It’s the travel trend for couples drawn to slow mornings, soft light and mossy trails, the kind of peaceful landscapes where it feels like you’re the only ones for miles. Vancouver Island fits perfectly, with its coastal rainforests, hidden beaches and beautifully designed cabins tucked between towering cedars. In Europe, the Black Forest offers woodland paths and intimate boutique lodges made for long walks and early nights in. Slovenia’s Lake Bled brings glassy water and forested hills, while New Zealand’s Fiordland serves deep greens and untouched wilderness with a luxe-lodge twist.

Opera Aesthetic
There’s a certain magic to cities built around the rituals of the opera — tailored evenings, ornate lobbies and music drifting into the night air. That’s the heart of the Opera Aesthetic, a trend inviting couples to explore places where culture and grandeur move in tandem. Vienna is the natural starting point, known for its sweeping opera houses and classical heritage. Milan brings a confident, fashion-forward mood, while Paris turns the experience into pure spectacle with the Palais Garnier. Further east, Budapest and Prague offer quieter versions of the theme, with warm lights, velvet interiors and performances that feel wonderfully nostalgic.
