A breathtaking fusion of tradition and modernity, set amongst the enchanting woodlands of Northern Poland – the wedding of Antonia and Tymon. Held nearby the Baltic Sea at a stunning 20th-century venue, the celebration brought the charm of old-world Poland into a fresh, contemporary light with a whimsical essence. The ceremony, nestled in the heart of a vibrant forest beneath canopies of swaying trees and spilling golden light, creating an intimate and magical effect of dancing dappled light. Antonia first walked down the aisle in a chic, elegant gown by Danielle Frankel, but it was her second look crafted by a dear friend that truly stole the show – a unique, bohemian masterpiece crafted from traditional vintage Polish lace tablecloths, honoring the bride's heritage in the most unconventional way. This one has truly stole our hearts.
Our Love Story
The Day We Met
Through friends in high school. Both freshly out of long-term relationships, we decided to not put pressure on our time together and just have fun. Started as friends with benefits and ended as husband and wife.
The Proposal
After the summer in Europe and kind of sensing it would happen soon (we talked about it often), we came back to our Bali home. That’s when Tymon invited me on a romantic getaway to our favourite place in West Bali – a small beach hut on a black sand beach with no one around. I thought he might propose during our sunset picnic one evening, but he kept me on my toes until the very last morning. We went on the last walk on the beach with our dogs, and that’s when I noticed a beautiful set-up that Tymon asked my best friend to help prepare.
After proposing, we drank champagne and jumped into the ocean with huge smiles on our faces. That evening, we went for a sunset dinner, which turned out to be a surprise engagement party with our family and friends.
The Engagement Ring
Tymon designed the ring himself, with a little help from my mom. He knew I’m not a fan of classic engagement rings, so he found a raw diamond, which he explained is very rare to be in this shape and clarity and has never been interfered with by a human. The stone is placed on a gold band that’s been melted to give it an irregular, textured look. The ring was made by the same jeweler that made my mom's engagement ring 25 years ago.
Our Wedding
The Vision
From the beginning, we wanted to have the main wedding in Poland, as that’s where most of our families still live. We really wanted it to have a Polish feeling, but make it more modern and cool. Have it traditional, yet unconventional. Simple, yet unique. We wanted to incorporate the nature as much us possible and do it all outside. We’ve put up a tent in between the trees and didn’t have a deck, so that we could feel the grass under our feet. We chose the wedding venue through photos and only saw the place less than two months before the wedding due to us living in Asia!
Our Team of Vendors
Everyone who helped us create such a beautiful day was the perfect fit for what we wanted to achieve. They all delivered beyond our expectations, and I feel so grateful for the team we put together. From the florists and decor team, photographers, and videographers to musicians, the venue manager and of course Paulina, our wedding planner. She went above and beyond to help us create our special day, and let me tell you, it wasn’t easy with a 7-hour time difference.
The Location
The location of our wedding took place in the Palace of a small town called Ciekocinko in the North of Poland, near the Baltic Sea. The Palace was build in 1908, and is located in the middle of an old park with a forest and a lake in the lower part of the estate. Huge areas of greenery, a horse stable and an old Eastern European Palace made the vibe of our wedding unforgettable.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the forest on the lower part of the estate. There was this one old tree there whose roots grew as one, and in the middle it separated into two. We felt like that was a representation of our relationship, and we just knew we had to get married under it. To get to the ceremony place, everyone had to go down a small valley, and the sunlight sliding through the tree branches made it all look like a fairy tale.
The Reception
After the ceremony, everyone had to get back to the Palace area, and it was amazing to lead everyone through the valley up. We greeted everyone on the stairs while the cocktail party was happening on the deck in the garden below us. The dinner took place under the tent, and our dance floor was under the stars.
The Special Touches
There were so many special touches throughout the whole wedding and preparations, but I think our favorite was making the wedding bands ourselves with the help of the jeweler who made my engagement ring, of course. We went from cutting the gold to melting it, rolling it out and shaping it with our own hands. We’ve put our intention and love into making them, and they feel even more special now, knowing that I made Tymon’s, and Tymon made mine.
Our Favorite Moment
Our favorite moment was reading our vows right before the ceremony. We decided to keep it private, as we both knew that reading it out loud to everyone would give us too much anxiety, and that’s not what your special day is about. After getting ready, we asked everyone to leave the room, and we gave each other our letters through the door. Of course, without seeing each other, as, we wanted to keep the tradition! It was the best feeling to have right before walking down the aisle and just being reminded of how much love you have for each other.
Our Style
The Bridal Looks
I found my wedding dress long before getting engaged. I saw it on Pinterest one day and just knew it’s going to be the one. I got the Remi dress from Danielle Frankel Studio, but gave my special touch on it. The original dress has straps, but I wanted it to have a more open, clean look, so decided to leave them out. My veil was also from Danielle, but had been adjusted to have the same flowers as on the dress.
Later on I changed into a dress from my friend Zofia, that we worked on together for a while. It’s been made out of old Polish, lace tablecloths and patched together, creating a unique, asymmetrical design. My shoes were from Madomorpho, and they were created from white ballerina pointe shoes. It was very sentimental for me, as I used to dance professionally in the past, so it just felt right.
The Groom Looks
Tymon designed his own suit and got it made with his tailor in Bali. He wore vintage Maison Margiela shoes and instead of a bow tie, he wore a pearl choker from Vivienne Westwood. His watch of choice was a vintage Cartier Tank that he wore for the first time on our wedding day.
Our Advice
For The Planning Process
Make sure to find a wedding planner that matches your vibe, it will truly take so much pressure off of you! Also, just do what you want! Remember, it’s your special day, and your family and friends are there to celebrate you and your love! Make the weekend out of it, the longer it lasts, the better.
For On The Day
Be together at all times! It truly does go so fast that you don’t even notice when the night is over. Also, don't care about tradition and sleep together the night before. It’s the best feeling, waking up together the morning of your wedding day and having a moment just the two of you before all the preparations begin. It definitely helps with the nerves!
For Post-Wedding
Stay another night at your wedding venue and have some quality time with your family and friends. Let all of your emotions go down slowly and spend the evening together to reminisce the day before!
