In the romantic charm of Pflugsaal in Rottweil, Germany – a hall steeped in history since 1898 – Seda and Adrian brought their dream wedding to life, crafting a celebration that felt both personal and timeless. They longed for an event that was intimate yet unpretentious, one that celebrated their love with authenticity and simplicity. The evening was graced by an effortlessly charming decor – minimalist, adorned with lush greenery that breathed life into every corner. Seda’s bridal look was breathtaking in its grace and artistry – a full lace dress adorned with hand-sewn pearls, each delicate stitch embodying elegance. The reception carried a dinner-party charm, with friends and family reveling in the intimate atmosphere. It was an evening where love felt tangible – a beautiful blend of history, nature, and sincerity that marked the beginning of Seda and Adrian’s journey together.
Our Love Story
The Day We Met
We both grew up in the same region and knew of each other's existence, but our paths never really crossed. That changed on Christmas Eve 2014, when we met in the only bar in town. We spent the whole evening chatting about anything and everything. And let me say, the debate over who made the first move is still going strong! By the end of the night, we (totally randomly) found ourselves holding hands outside, waiting for our taxis. We didn't start dating until the summer of 2015, and the rest is history.
The Proposal
Adrian always knew that if the day ever came, I would want the proposal to be just the two of us, without an audience. In summer 2022, we flew to Bodrum and decided to go for a jog the very next day. So Adrian, full of motivation, dragged me out of bed early in the morning. He chose the highest hill in Bodrum for the proposal. Unaware of his plan, I wasn't exactly thrilled about such a challenge so early in the morning. Once we reached the top, we took in the breathtaking view. At that moment, Adrian got down on one knee. Exhausted and sweaty, we got engaged.
The Engagement Ring
Adrian knows how much sustainability means to me, and he made sure that my ring reflects those values. My ring is from Kimai, a brand based in Antwerp, known for its commitment to sustainability. It is crafted from recycled gold and features a lab-grown diamond. The centerpiece is an elongated radiant diamond, set in a unique wraparound band adorned with accent diamonds. It is incredibly beautiful.
Our Wedding
The Vision
It was crucial to us that our wedding felt authentic and truly represented who we are. We dreamed of an intimate, effortless celebration - a night with long tables where we could enjoy good food, engage in heartfelt conversations, dance the night away, and celebrate love. Given the venue's inherent charm, we opted for a minimalist approach to the decor. To highlight the beauty of the venue, we chose a lush greenery concept and worked with calla lilies, amaranthus, and other beautiful flowers paired with plenty of candlelight. This subtle decor perfectly complemented the venue, creating a vibe that was both timeless and effortlessly chic.
Our Team of Vendors
Working with our vendors was an amazing experience. Their flexibility and dedication truly impressed me. Being deeply involved in the planning, I really had to learn to let go and trust the team, which is something I usually find quite challenging. When we saw the final result, we were blown away because it exceeded our expectations. Throughout the planning and execution, we were unconditionally supported by the world's best friends and witnesses. For that, we are very grateful.
The Location
The beautiful Pflugsaal in Rottweil, built in 1898, is located in the oldest town of the state Baden-Württemberg and is a protected historic landmark. When we first stepped into the venue, the high ceilings, arched windows, and historic paintings left such a strong impression on us that we knew immediately that this was the perfect place.
The Ceremony
We had our civil wedding in December 2022, but we wanted to “say yes” once again in front of all our loved ones. The ceremony was officiated by our two witnesses, and we loved every moment of it. It meant so much to us and was more personal than anyone else could have made it. The ceremony was accompanied by a wonderful duo with guitar and vocals. Our family and friends sat in a semicircle around us. It was incredibly beautiful.
The Reception
After the ceremony, we wanted to savor the moment with our family and friends. We took this time to greet each guest personally and enjoy drinks, snacks and wonderful live music before heading to dinner. Our vision for the dinner was definitely a dinner party vibe. We opted for long tables to encourage good conversations while enjoying good food.
We chose a three-course meal featuring local Swabian cuisine. Following the meal, we had a dessert buffet and a single-tier rectangular wedding cake with minimalist decoration. The flowers on the tables perfectly complemented the wall decorations, and the candles created a cozy atmosphere. There was so much love in the air; you could feel how much our guests cared for us and were happy to be a part of our special day.
The Special Touches
The location, the floral arrangements, the live duo, the cake - all of this made it perfect for us. We stayed true to ourselves in everything we did, and our guests felt that authenticity. A highlight was Adrian's speech, delivered entirely in Turkish. My family had no idea beforehand and they were absolutely thrilled. They couldn't help but cheer literally after every sentence he spoke. Even though the rest of the room didn't understand the language, they were able to feel the joy.
Our Favorite Moment
Our favorite moment was our first dance. We spent a long time considering whether we wanted to choreograph a dance. In the end, we decided not to do it because we knew it wouldn't feel like "us." Instead, we wanted to simply enjoy the moment. We danced to "Biblical" by Calum Scott, and it was perfect.
Our Style
The Bridal Looks
When you find the right dress, you just know. Originally, we had different plans for the wedding. Due to time pressure, I chose a dress that was beautiful but didn't make me feel the way I should. A few months before the wedding, my maid of honor took me to a small bridal boutique. The moment I tried the dress on, I knew. Lucky as I am, the gown happened to be available in my size, which is usually impossible. I wore the Mary Gown by Australian designer Christie Nicole.
This dream dress featured full lace, hand-sewn pearls, and their signature 3D flower appliqués, with long sleeves and a deep back. Because the dress was so special, I wanted to keep the rest of my styling simple. A light make up with loosely waved hair, covered by a long veil. A classic ivory tone. For jewelry, I wore my rings and classic pearl stud earrings. The bouquet was an arrangement of calla lilies.
The Groom Looks
Adrian wore a classic tuxedo and paired it with an antique pocket watch that belonged to his best man.
Our Bridesmaid’s Looks
When it came to the bridesmaids' looks, my primary concern was ensuring that everyone felt comfortable. So, I left the choice of dresses up to them. Since I never had a specific color in mind, we discussed the color options together. Given that everyone has such different styles and preferences, it wasn't always easy to find a color that flatters everyone. I came across the idea of a black look and instantly loved it, as did my bridesmaids. To complement my bridal bouquet, each bridesmaid carried a minimalist bouquet of calla lilies.
Our Groomsmen’s Looks
Just like the bridal looks, we wanted to ensure that all of the groomsmen felt comfortable and true to themselves in their outfits. We loved seeing them in different styles that perfectly matched their personalities. Some wore bow ties, one paired Birkenstocks with his suit, and the best man wore his grandfather's sunglasses. Each groomsman put a lot of thought into their attire, which we truly appreciated.
Our Advice
For The Planning Process
We started planning quite late and were incredibly fortunate to secure such talented vendors. My advice: start early, as the best vendors get booked quickly. Define a clear concept from the beginning and stick to it. It's easy to stray from your original vision with so many incredible concepts out there. Small adjustments along the way are fine, but you should always maintain your core concept. If you love planning and spending hours researching every detail of your day, go for it!
Seeing the final result made me incredibly proud. However, if that's not your thing, I strongly advise to get help from a wedding planner or a friend who knows you well and would enjoy it. Last but not least: things will go wrong or not work out as planned - just smile through it! Embracing the unexpected and keeping a positive attitude made all the difference. It allows to fully enjoy every moment and focus on what truly matters.
For On The Day
Avoid planning any to-dos for the wedding day itself. The day is exciting enough, and it's wonderful to start it relaxed, with champagne, breakfast, and your loved ones. It may sound cliché, but truly enjoy every moment of the day - it goes by faster than you think.
For Post-Wedding
We spent the night in a beautiful hotel where some of our guests also stayed. This allowed us to enjoy a long breakfast together the next morning. One last but essential tip - choose your photographer wisely. We opted out of having a videographer and instead selected an incredibly talented photographer who captured the evening in a documentary style. She documented the entire day and captured all the emotions, allowing us to relive the moments every time we look at the photos. Thank you, dear Fanni!
