The big day is almost here, and you've done all the prep, with just a few hours left before the life-changing "I do." The journey has been quite a ride! But don't kick back and relax just yet. The truth is, many blunders happen the day before the wedding. Yep, there are some definite no-nos if you want to be in top form on this special day. Read on to find out what to watch out for!
Do not drink alcohol or carbonated beverages
Drinking alcohol the night before the wedding is a big no-no. Such beverages often lead to hangovers and bloating. And that’s definitely not what you want to deal with on your special day! Just be patient and wait until the reception. Well, what about carbonated beverages? Aside from containing an ungodly amount of sugar, bubbly drinks like soda release carbon dioxide, which can cause bloating too. Drink a lot of water instead. The more hydrated you are, the better you will look.
Do not experiment with foods
Be mindful of what you eat and save all cooking experiments for later. Wrong food choices can cause unwanted side effects like allergies or digestive distress, which can make it difficult to enjoy the wedding to the fullest. Experts suggest staying away from dairy as well as spicy and high-sodium foods. However, do not skip your three basic meals! Just choose healthy foods (veggies, fruits, etc.), and ones you can tolerate well.
Do not stay up late
Your skin needs beauty sleep, so don’t stay awake until the crack of dawn. Otherwise, you will look exhausted and feel bad. So make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep. Having a hard time falling asleep? Listening to a podcast or white noise can help you to shut your brain off. For example, download the Noisli app, which lets you make your own sleep soundtrack from different sounds, like thunder, rain and wind. You can also use Headspace. The app offers so-called sleepcasts, 45-minute-long audio experiences designed to create the right conditions for healthy, restful sleep.
Do not exhaust yourself
If you have a strict pre-wedding fitness regimen, the perfect time to break it is the day before the celebration. Try to avoid working out or doing other physical activities that require a lot of strength. You don’t want to overdo and pull a muscle, right? Save every bit of your energy for the big day. You will need it to be in peak condition throughout the celebration.
Do not try new beauty products
What if something goes wrong? Just like food, new beauty products run the risk of reacting with your skin. They can cause breakouts, irritation, and even chemical burns. The same goes for beauty treatments such as hair removal. Treatments like this one should be done at least a couple of days ahead of your wedding celebration. The best option is sticking to your usual skincare routine. This way, you won’t need to worry about anything.
Do not get stressed
Last but not least, do not get stressed and avoid getting into arguments or quarrels. It’s important to keep it together even in the most difficult situations! If something (or someone) makes you feel angry or frustrated, try to take deep breaths and calm yourself down. Breathing apps like Breathwrk and Calm might help you out. Just sit back, leave all the problems behind and focus on yourself.
