Influencer Jamie Schuppert's Coastal-Chic Wedding Weekend in Baja, Mexico

A destination wedding in Mexico layered with candlelight, organic textures, and deeply personal details

For their wedding weekend in Mexico, fashion influencer Jamie Schuppert Hopkins and Westy Hopkins transformed the venue into a deeply immersive coastal celebration layered with candlelight, texture, and atmosphere. Guests spent the weekend moving between barefoot beach ceremonies, poolside afternoons with whales surfacing offshore, citrus grove dinners beneath glowing lights, and late-night dancing inside a palm tree-shaped conservatory hidden within the botanical gardens. Jamie approached the weekend with a distinctly editorial eye, creating guest mood boards, curated itineraries, and three bridal looks that carried the celebration seamlessly from ceremony to after-party. The result was a wedding that felt cinematic without losing its warmth — intimate, design-driven, and entirely alive with energy.

Our Love Story

The Day We Met

I met Westy standing in his kitchen. He and his roommates were throwing a housewarming party in Venice — one that somehow turned into a 500-person event. Just as the sun was starting to set, he came up and introduced himself, and we instantly hit it off. He asked me out the next day, but timing wasn’t quite on my side yet — I told him to try again in a month. Thankfully, he did, and we went on our first date on Abbot Kinney on June 30, 2021.

The Proposal

In June 2025, Westy and I took a trip to the Jersey Shore to visit his mom and sister. One evening, we went to the beach to watch the sunset like we always do, but as we started walking, I could tell something was different — and that’s when he got down on one knee as the sun set behind us. Moments later, both of our families came running onto the beach to surprise me. He had secretly gotten my entire family to fly in from all over the country to celebrate together for the week, and it was the most unforgettable surprise.

The Engagement Ring

I was torn between choosing something unique or going the classic route, but ultimately, I fell in love with a timeless natural oval solitaire diamond on a gold band.

Our Wedding

The Vision

Set against the natural landscape of Baja in Todos Santos, every detail of our wedding weekend was designed to feel authentically us — textural, moody, and deeply personal. The color palette was drawn directly from the resort gardens and coastline: warm, earthy, and organic, while the florals emphasized movement and texture over formality. Candlelight carried through every moment, creating an intimate, immersive atmosphere that softened the entire weekend into something almost cinematic. What made it especially meaningful was how integrated our guests were from the very beginning. By the time we reached the wedding day, it already felt like one continuous celebration rather than separate events.

The Location

We did a buyout at Kimpton Mas Olas, so everyone on the property was a part of the wedding. This allowed everyone to hang out and get to know each other throughout the entire weekend.

The Ceremony

The stretch of beach in front of Kimpton Mas Olas, where guests slipped off their shoes, watched horses pass along the shoreline, and saw whales break the surface offshore, all while we stood among them reading our vows.

The Cocktail Hour

Kahal Restaurant at Kimpton Mas Olas, one of the best vantage points on the property for sunset. As the sun dipped below the horizon, guests sipped cocktails, lingered over conversation, and took photos before dark.

The Reception & Special Touches

For our reception, the citrus allée garden at Kimpton Mas Olas, where one long table stretched beneath lemon, lime, and orange trees, with circular tables woven throughout the grove. The entire space was candlelit and strung with soft lights, creating a glowing canopy among the branches. Calla lilies were placed throughout, adding a sculptural, understated elegance to the garden setting.

Some of our favorite details throughout the weekend were the whimsical, movement-driven florals filled with pops of green, orange, burgundy, deep purple, and white, along with a cookie tower instead of a traditional wedding cake since Westy loves chocolate chip cookies. We also had personalized matchbooks that said “Hoppily Ever After” and served cookies, berries, and carajillo shots late into the night.

We wanted the entire weekend to feel immersive and intentional, so I created a guest mood board and itinerary card to help everyone feel aligned with the vibe and events. From the all-white welcome taco party to the poolside celebration before the wedding and the late-night after-party in the conservatory, every moment was designed to feel relaxed, fun, and deeply personal to us.

Our Favorite Moment

There were so many incredible moments, it’s hard to choose just one, but the dance floor was truly electric. Our DJ was incredible, moving between songs that hit everyone right in the heartstrings while keeping the energy high, with guests singing at the top of their lungs. The dance floor stayed packed the entire night, with shirts coming off and nonstop energy all around us. Westy and I dancing closely together, surrounded by all of our friends, is something I’ll never forget — it was a true testament to our vision of simply wanting everyone to have fun, let go, and be fully in it with us.

Our Style

The Bridal Looks

My ceremony gown was by Jane Hill Bridal, my reception dress was by Francesca Miranda, and my after-party look was by Retrofête.

The Groom Looks

Westy wore a custom ivory Suitsupply tux.

Our Bridesmaids’ & Groomsmen’s Looks

I didn’t have bridesmaids, but I had my closest friends and family with me while I got ready. I shared a loose mood board with colors inspired by the natural landscape of the property and my florals, but I wasn't strict about it. The palette included burgundy, butter yellow, orange, baby blue, purple, lime, and olive green. My only real rule was no black — everything else was meant to feel expressive and lively! Westy didn’t have a traditional bridal party either, but he was surrounded by his closest friends and family while getting ready. He asked the guys to wear light-colored or linen suits. The only guideline was no black to keep everything cohesive, relaxed, and coastal.

Our Advice

For the Planning Process

Define your vision before you go into the inspiration spiral — try to write down what you actually want your day to feel like before you dive too deep into Pinterest or Instagram. It helps you stay rooted in your own perspective instead of unconsciously absorbing everyone else’s ideas. Ask every question — even the ones that feel small or obvious — because sometimes there are things on your mind that your planner or vendors may not automatically think to cover. I also recommend asking recent brides what they would do differently. I wish I had done this, as it would’ve saved me from a few small surprises, like not knowing how to properly bustle my dress. Do a hair and makeup trial, no matter the cost — trust me!

For On The Day

Let go on the wedding day and be as present as possible! By the time the day arrives, you’ve already done all the planning, and so much of it is out of your control. Let go of anything you’re hoping will go perfectly, and allow the day to unfold as it’s meant to. If something doesn’t go exactly to plan, it truly won’t matter in the context of everything you’re feeling and experiencing. It will still be the best day of your life.

For Post-Wedding

Try not to rush straight back into the chaos and workflow of everyday life, because this is such a special and emotional time in your relationship that deserves to be fully felt and absorbed. Give yourselves space to slow down, reflect on the weekend, and actually sit in everything that just happened together. We also loved having anyone who could stay a few extra days do so, just to relax, reminisce, and relive it all while it was still fresh.
