A Soul-Stirring Vow Renewal Weekend at Neuendorf House in Mallorca

Fluid silk, pearl accents, and effortless bridal fashion with a modern Mediterranean edge

Ten years after saying "I do," Carolina and Maarten returned to love in its purest form with an intimate vow renewal at Neuendorf House in Mallorca — a striking architectural hideaway, where terracotta walls, ancient olive trees, and endless natural light created the mood for a deeply personal two-day celebration. More anniversary than traditional wedding, the gathering brought together their children, closest friends, and creative circle for a weekend shaped by emotion, atmosphere, and intentional design. Guided by the words Siempre Amor, the event blended monumental minimalism with tactile romance: mirrored runways, sculptural orchids, black lava stones, silk menus, candlelight, and shimmering water projections that transformed dinner into a dreamlike scene. Every detail felt cinematic yet lived-in — emotional without excess, refined without formality — capturing the beauty of a family celebrating not just a marriage, but the life they had built together.

Our Love Story

The Day We Met

The story we shared focuses on our life after ten beautiful years of marriage filled with love, wild adventures, and raising four incredible little humans. Specific details about the day we first met are not included here.

The Engagement Ring

For our vow renewal, the ring was specially designed by the bride herself (Salvador Jewels). During the ceremony, our daughter Malena proudly passed it to me.

Our Vow Renewal

The Vision

After ten beautiful years of marriage, we wanted something deeper and more intentional: a quiet, soul-stirring two-day gathering in Mallorca surrounded by our children, closest team members, family, and friends. Wrapped in our guiding words, Siempre Amor (“always love”), we dreamed of a complete, immersive experience that felt elegant, carefree, and deeply intimate. No stiff traditions, just genuine connection in a setting that breathed beauty and calm. As founders of Lux Visual Storytellers, we’re deeply visual people, so every detail — light, environment, aesthetic — mattered profoundly.

Our Team of Vendors

We are so happy we chose to have our renewal captured by our own Lux team of photographers and videographers. Every moment was photographed by someone else, allowing our team to fully enjoy the celebration themselves. The result is exactly what we envisioned: honest, emotional images filled with real feeling and captured through an artistic eye. The trailer is a true extension of who we are and perfectly reflects the vision we had for our renewal.

The Location

Neuendorf House (La Casa Rossa) in southern Mallorca, an architectural masterpiece by John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin. Effortless, monumental minimalism, serene terracotta-pink walls, and open, sun-drenched spaces tucked among ancient olive and almond trees. It felt visually arresting yet profoundly peaceful, safe and playful for our four energetic kids, and the perfect extension of us.

The Ceremony

Held at the building entrance under the open sky. A mirrored runway printed with “Siempre Amor” led the way, flanked by raw sandstone blocks crowned with white orchids. Mirror columns spilled with orchids and trailing amaranthus. Our children walked with us (Maarten with the girls to “Opéra Sirocco”; me with the boys to Max Richter’s “Sarajevo”). They stayed right beside us the whole time — raw, tender, and full of emotion and laughter.

The Cocktail Hour

Late-afternoon cocktails unfolded under the soft shadows of the olive trees. A generous reception buffet featured creamy artisanal cheeses, cured hams, ripe figs, cherries, and clusters of red grapes — honest, local, organic ingredients that even the kids devoured (courtesy of Organichefs).

The Dinner

We flowed into the central courtyard, where tables formed a dramatic cross shape, a quiet symbol of connection. Warm draping, mirrors, black votives, black lava stones, orchids, tall black candles, and crystal chandeliers created a cozy, vibrant atmosphere.

Dinner brought our love for the sea to life, with shimmering water projections dancing across the high walls. Glass plates carried a subtle water motif; menus were printed on black silk with silver calligraphy; place cards were hand-calligraphed on natural capiz shells.

The Special Touches

A black-and-mirror (silver, reflective) theme carried throughout — pure minimalism with a subtle dramatic shine. Square black-and-silver invitations echoed the house’s architecture and included a hand-embroidered Bruges lace handkerchief (a nod to our roots) for every guest to keep. Handwritten thank-you letters from us were placed at every setting. Personal playlists shaped every mood (my husband is a musician). On Day 2, Monsieur Lapin red line drawings were scattered across the brunch tables, and the tablescapes were filled with tomato sculptures and the kids’ favorite red fruits. On the day two we also held a children’s baptism. Late afternoon, poolside, in a runway formation. Parents and godparents shared readings; the children signed their documents and dove straight into the pool with pure glee. Small red water pistols stood in for confetti.

Our Favorite Moment

Our children being fully present during the vow renewal: little Gia wandering off to give out hugs, Dantes tearing up and melting into a cuddle, and Malena beaming as she passed me my ring. We also loved watching guests read our handwritten thank-you letters with tears in their eyes, and witnessing the pure joy and laughter as the kids dove into the pool after their baptism. Raw, tender, real, and profoundly peaceful.

Our Style

The Bridal Looks

For the day one I wore the Lirio dress by Cortana (sourced from Wild at Heart Bridal), crafted from bias-cut Italian silk georgette that moved like water — minimalist and incredibly comfortable. Finished with Jimmy Choo silver pumps, a pearl nautilus shell clutch, a silver-and-pearl headpiece, and earrings.

A mini black mesh dress from Meshki with Ab Ellie earrings for the day two. For the pool and baptism: easy black-and-white cover-ups over swimsuits, plus Cartier sunglasses.

The Groom Looks

A bespoke black suit from Café Costume in Belgium.

Our Bridal Party Looks

We didn’t have traditional bridesmaids. Our daughters wore lovely dresses from Lissikids (Etsy) and were central to both ceremonies, walking with us and fully part of every moment. Also no traditional groomsmen. Our sons wore Zara outfits and proudly walked hand in hand during the vow renewal.

Our Advice

For the Planning Process

Take time to find a venue that truly feels like an extension of your family and aesthetic. We searched for months until Neuendorf House clicked perfectly. Place the entire vision in the hands of a planner you trust deeply (Silke from Atelier Rosé understood us instantly and handled every detail with calm, obsessive care).

For On The Day

Let the weekend unfold naturally — no rush, just space for every moment to land. Involve your children fully so they can be themselves. Enjoy and relax to the fullest, and take a moment together to truly take it all in.

For Post-Wedding

Choose photographers and videographers who really blend in and make you feel like you’re right back in the moment — people who capture your day exactly as you experienced it: the emotions, the atmosphere, and all the little details that mattered most. We let our Lux team photograph and film each part of our renewal so they could also enjoy the celebration themselves, and it was the best decision. The result is authentic, timeless imagery and film that feel like a true extension of our day — not just pictures, but a living memory you can relive forever.
