It’s official! The most anticipated event in the fashion industry has finally happened. Simon Porte Jacquemus, the French fashion designer and founder of the Jacquemus label, has tied the knot with his long-time partner Marco Maestri. The couple has been in a happy relationship for four years and got engaged back in June of 2021. Since then, all eyes have been on them. Where would the wedding take place? What would the grooms look like? Who would be invited? Fashion enthusiasts were desperate to know all the details, and the wait is over. The first official photos are finally here, and we are ready to tell you everything in detail.
The lovely pair exchanged their vows on August 27th in the village of Charleval, which is in the South of France. It was important for Simon to celebrate the special occasion in his native region, as it holds some of his dearest childhood memories. The intimate ceremony was witnessed by starry guests, including Amina Muaddi, Jeanne Damas, and Tina Kunakey. Dua Lipa, who was also among the invitees, rocked a sheer white gown from the Jacquemus Fall 2022 Le Papier collection.
Simon went down the aisle hand in hand with his grandmother, Liline, who previously appeared in commercials for the Jacquemus fashion house. Marco arrived in the 1950s cream convertible MG with his mother, Catherine. Both grooms decided to play on colors by wearing contrasting suits. Simon’s choice was a black Jacquemus tuxedo and matching trousers with a veil peeking out from one of the pockets, while Marco preferred a white loose-fit suit.
As for the makeup, the couple was assisted by a team of talented hair and makeup artists. One of them, Yulia Pantiukhina, gladly shared her experience. "Simon is an incredibly beautiful, kind, and smiley person! <...> We spent the whole day with the grooms — first, he [Simon] was filmed having breakfast in a beautiful hotel room next to the ceremony site. Then, shots with Marco were filmed. We were giving his hair and face tone some touches in the process. Both were as cute as kids, so the atmosphere was very comfortable."
According to Yulia, Simon didn't want the hair artists to use dry textures and hairsprays. That is why she styled his hair with cream. Quite a funny moment was when the guests showered newlyweds with lavender flowers. The pieces eventually got stuck in the couple's hair because of the creamy texture. So from time to time, Yulia had to remove flowers from the top of Simon and Marco's heads.
Once the official part of the wedding was over, the newlyweds continued the celebration at Château de Bonneval. During the cocktail party, the designer’s father and brother played a few songs live with the band as a gift for both Simon and Marco. All the guests couldn’t help but dance! Then everybody joined the big dinner. The festive table was set outside and spread along the road that led right to Simon's mother's home. Judging by the photos from the event, the views and setting were mesmerizing!
After dinner, everybody was invited to the surprise film screening that showcased the couple’s beautiful love story. But that wasn’t the end of the party! Just a few moments later, La Discoteca opened. It was an open-air dancing space where all the invitees could lose themselves grooving to some of the couple's favorite tunes. Newlyweds and their guests were having the time of their lives! “The most beautiful day, ceremony, and obviously the most fun party (they just know how to do it) Grateful to experience these moments of pure happiness with you”, shared Dua Lipa via Instagram.
Of course, any wedding celebration is incomplete without the cake. Simon put all of his creative vision into designing the dessert of his dreams — he drew his idea on paper a month before the celebration. Jacquemus wanted a giant cake with wedding figurines on top. However, he planned a twist. The figurines had to be none other than Simon and Marco themselves. The couple nailed the concept perfectly!
While everyone else continued their non-stop partying, Simon quickly changed his tuxedo and trousers into a beautiful white gown that suited him perfectly. Marco did the same! Moreover, the couple gave one hundred white dresses to all of their guests as a way to make everyone shine even brighter. Later, via Instagram, Simon shared a funny story that happened by the end of celebration: “At the end of the party at 10.00 I went to see my husband, and he was sleeping in all the wedding dresses”.
So it's safe to say that the celebration was a total blast. Congratulations to the lovey-dovey couple!
