On Phu Quoc, where the light turns golden just before sunset, Zhican and Xuemin brought their vision of an intimate destination wedding to life with a celebration that felt effortlessly personal. Just 31 guests gathered at the InterContinental resort, where the ocean, changing sky, and lush surroundings became part of the event design. The décor balanced refined elegance with an organic sensibility, pairing sculptural floral arrangements with unexpected dandelions that gave the tablescape a soft, whimsical edge. Every detail felt considered without ever becoming overly formal, creating an atmosphere that shifted naturally from quiet anticipation to dinner-filled warmth as the sun slipped away. Our Love Story

The Day We Met

Actually, we met in the middle of 2025, but at that time, it was just me falling in love at first sight. I didn't know how Xuemin felt about me.

The Proposal

We officially became a couple on January 27, 2025. From the beginning of our relationship, I'd been thinking about the best day to propose, and I finally chose our six-month anniversary. We were visiting Xuemin's best friend in Suzhou at the time. I told her friend I was going to propose, but I didn't tell Xuemin. I prepared flowers under the guise of celebrating our six-month anniversary, and she was very happy, but she didn't know I had also prepared a ring. Halfway through our meal and conversation, I proposed to her, and she said yes.

The Engagement Ring

I went to Graff to pick out Xuemin's engagement ring because, after looking at several brands, I felt their rings suited her best. Xuemin has very fair skin; needless to say, she's incredibly beautiful—so beautiful that I felt she didn't need a complicated ring to complement her. Therefore, I chose Graff's Icon collection.

The Vision

From the very beginning, we envisioned an intimate, relaxed wedding filled with warmth. With just 31 guests, every single person there was someone deeply meaningful to our journey. We chose a sunset ceremony because Xuemin and I had fallen in love with the sunsets in Phu Quoc on a previous trip, and I wanted our favorite people to experience that magical golden hour with us. We kept the design elegant yet effortless, with organic floral details that blended seamlessly into the natural landscape.

Our Team of Vendors

We were incredibly fortunate to work with The F Lab Wedding Planner, who made the entire process seamless and enjoyable, even as we planned a destination wedding in Vietnam all the way from China. They brought together an extraordinary team of vendors who were thoughtful, professional, and genuinely invested in our vision. From Alley Presents and Move Studio, who captured every candid, meaningful moment, to Cat Hoa Moments, who crafted floral designs that completely exceeded our expectations, every single person played a part in bringing our dream day to life.

The Location

We chose the InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort because Phu Quoc already held a special place in our hearts. We had visited before and were completely captivated by its sunsets. We knew we wanted to exchange our vows with the ocean nearby and the sky changing colors behind us, and the resort provided the perfect setting for that dream.

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was intimate and emotional, surrounded by the people who mean the most to us. One of the sweetest moments was when our little ring bearer confidently completed his important job by bringing us the ring box. It brought smiles to everyone's faces and made the ceremony even more memorable.

The Reception

The reception felt like a beautiful dinner shared with family. One of my favorite design elements was the reception table, which was thoughtfully styled and became the centerpiece of the evening. As the sun disappeared and everyone gathered together, the atmosphere became warm, joyful, and incredibly meaningful.

The Special Touches

The biggest surprise for us was the use of dandelions in the floral design. They added a soft, whimsical feeling that we hadn't imagined but absolutely loved. Another special touch was seeing our baby ring bearer proudly complete his role, creating one of the happiest memories of the entire day.

Our Favorite Moment

Watching the sunset together while standing in front of everyone we love is a moment I'll never forget. Seeing Xuemin, hearing our vows, and looking around at our closest family and friends made me realize how lucky we were to celebrate our marriage in such a beautiful place.

The Bridal Looks

Xuemin wore gowns from Tong Bridal that perfectly reflected her elegant style. I have always believed she doesn't need anything overly complicated to be beautiful, and her bridal looks felt timeless and effortless. She completed them with René Caovilla shoes and jewelry from Graff, BVLGARI, and Cartier, creating a classic look that suited her perfectly.

The Groom Looks

I wanted my look to be clean, modern, and timeless so the focus would remain on the day itself. My attire from Tong Bridal complemented Xuemin's beautifully, and styling everything ourselves allowed us to stay true to our own taste.
