This morning, fashion designer Alberta Ferretti announced she is stepping down as creative director of her eponymous brand, which she founded in 1981. The move marks a significant shift for the fashion house known for its elegant and feminine silhouettes.
Ferretti's roots in fashion run deep, having grown up in her family's dressmaking shop. As a teenager, she opened her own boutique, where she began designing and selling her own creations alongside pieces from renowned Italian designers. Though stepping away from the creative direction of her brand, Alberta Ferretti, now 74, will continue to hold a key role in her family’s business, as she remains vice president of Aeffe Group.
Ferretti's influence on modern fashion is indelible, and while her departure marks the end of an era, her legacy will undoubtedly continue to shape the industry for years to come.
